OK, I have an ASK BK question, although it's not Wednesday. And DR ChasSmith or DR elmore3003, feel free to chime in.

Say you are an actor, for example, Beth Malone. And say you want to perform a song, say "The Life I Never Led," from Sister Act, at a benefit concert that will have a full band.

Do you, the actor, get permission and a set of parts for the band from the composer directly? Or do you, the actor, have to pay to have an orchestrator create a set of band parts for you and your use at such events? Or is that the responsibility of the concert producer?

And does the band work from the books of the full show? For a full concert of disparate songs, it seems like that would be a logistical nightmare. Or do they just have separate parts for each individual song in the concert?

I'm just curious.

I get asked for orchestrations from our albums every now and then, and if it's convenient and I can find, I'll usually lend them. When we did Beth's Life I Never Led at a benefit, we only had a band of about seven or eight and I think we created something for that. If it's a big orchestra, they'll usually request the parts. The performer rarely would.

I'm up, I'm up - alarm didn't go off so I'm scrambling to get things done before the helper person arrives at two.

I just read an article from yesterday that, due to an error, an immediate evacuation notice interrupted regular TV programming in the Los Angeles area Wednesday, telling the entirety of L.A. County and the "Eastern North Pacific Ocean" area to evacuate due to a fire.

The interviews with Devil director Carl Franklin and novelist Walter Mosley both touch on some history of L.A. in 1948. Good stuff.

I went to acupuncture today, then stopped at Trader Joe's. 96 degrees. When I returned home the apartment was 87, the highest it's ever been! I'm trying to cool it down, but it's taking a loonnnngg time.

I would like to do more tossing. I'm about ready to get rid of some clothes I no longer wear. And I need the space.
