I watched a couple of new Masterpiece Theater mysteries.
The first was the first episode of "Magpie Murder". Don't know where it's going but there is a manuscript by a murder writer that is missing the final chapter. The main character in the story (a series of books actually) is named Atticus Pund. In this book, also called "Magpie Murder", Pund is dying of a tumor. Sadly, the writer ends up dead, possibly of suicide because he had terminal cancer. The missing chapter is critical to the publishing company for whom the writer is the star attraction. If they cannot publish the book, the company will fold. The story editor is on the trail of the missing chapter.
The second is called "Annika". It's also a mystery but Annika is a detective sergeant or inspector and has a mysterious death on her hands (death by a harpoon). She breaks the fourth wall frequently throughout episode 1...whenever she can do so without anyone else nearby to hear her.
I think both are worth sticking with until the prove they aren't.
