Jane, are you planning to visit Ramsey Canyon Preserve in Sierra Vista?
I’m a huge fan of hummingbirds, and Sierra Vista has more varieties than anywhere in the world.
Wish I could go with you!

The only plan is to see Tombstone and Bisbee.  I would like to go to either to Ramsy Canyon or Kartchner Caverns. I don't know if we will have enough time.

Do we need to go to the preserve to see the hummingbirds or are they simply everywhere in the Sierra Vista area?

I thought we'd drive up the mountain to the parking lot, then go to Fat Man Pass.

My DH suggested the arboretum in Superior.

I'll leave it up to Jane and Keith. Either South Mountain or the arboretum would be fine with me.

The arboretum in Superior. They might also want to go to the garden in Phoenix, but I'll take a pass on that.

It is very hard to find a good meatloaf in a restaurant. Daily Grill had one - maybe I'll go there.

Are they still around. So many have closed.

Oh dear.....it seems Kirstie Alley has passed away....I just saw DR RON PULLIAM's bookface post.

Oh, no. :( I was never a fan of her religion (or her politics), but she was a good actress.

The arboretum is about 50 miles out of Phoenix, and it's easy walking, with an uphill loop with good footing. Probably my favorite place in Arizona. There's a lake, so birds are plenty.

South Mountain is a hiking trail with rocks and boulders. I suggest driving up the mountain and hiking from the parking lot. I haven't hiked up from the bottom in quite a while. It can be pretty difficult in places. There's no water nearby the trail I'm thinking of, so not a great birding spot.

The trails at the arboretum look beautiful.  Fat Man Pass pops up as one of the best hikes in the area so let's stay with that.  I just hope we find the correct parking area.

I'm sure it's Hidden Valley that's listed. You go through Fat Man Pass and come out the Natural Tunnel. The trouble is that there's a lot of scrambling up and sliding down huge boulders, and I've reached the age where I'm afraid of getting hurt. I haven't done that hike in years.

But you can hike to Fat Man Pass and take the regular trail to the Natural Tunnel. It's just not in Hidden Valley.

The safer hike is fine with me/us.

Yes, South Mountain is in Phoenix.

Keith would prefer staying local.
