I want Krispy Kremes right now. They had the most amazing "specialty" donut back in the spring: chocolate creme-filled chocolate glazed donut. OY!

FYI for those who are dying to be "in the know": MTI officially has picked up RENT, WICKED, CAPTAIN LOUIE, DESSA ROSE and DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS.  Our CEO is currently in a meeting with the representatives of a certain "member of royalty" whose songs are currently featured in a Broadway show for which we are trying to get the rights and we're still trying to figure out what's happening with AVENUE Q.

Didn't they have their Grammy taken away?

It took a moment  or two.

Last night from CillalizCilaliz we will also be in Portland those dates.  We are going to a wedding on the evening of the 6th and we have a son to visit.  I hope we can all get together.  MBarnum doesn't live far and possibly the Washington crowd will drive down.

Sure, MBarnum lives in Oregon, so he has a name.  Those of us in Washington are just part of the crowd.

If any New York H/Ks see this, could you see if you could procure a July 18 issue of the New York Sun?  Evidently there is a (really, really bad) review of the play St. Frances of Hollywood, but the review may reference my research on Frances.  I just got a cryptic email (do I get any other kind about FF?  :) ) and the hits on my web article have just shot up this afternoon, so I'm wondering if it might be true.   I will gladly repay you Tuesday for a New York Sun today (a Wimpy/Popeye reference).

TCB I was afraid you would be performing.  I will just think of all the other people whose lives will be enriched because you entertained them.

Sadly, not looking all too likely for us at the moment, either, due largely to Ann's work schedule, in addition to a number of other upcoming weekend trips for us.  Not totally ruling it out, but...

Let me know if one of those weekend trips takes you past my house again.  You can almost see our house from I-5.

TCB I may be laughing but I was sincere.  :)

Good Evening!

... Just been winding down from the day of auditions.  As I mentioned earlier, we had a very good day.  And it looks like we'll be able to cast a good chunk of local actors too!  -Which also means that I should be able to negotiate for housing for this contract since there won't be so many out-of-towners.

;)

The only "bad" part of the whole day was the weak A/C in the audition room.  -And once those 25 dancers/singers/actors started working up a sweat...Ugh!  It wasn't too bad, but I did find sweat being flung at me from time to time.

But, again, a very good day.

Afterwards, a bunch of us just retired to the green room of the theatre and ordered some Chinese food for delivery.  We just wanted to stay someplace cool for a while - and also to wait out the DC rush hour traffic.  Good food.  Good people.  Great meal.

:)

I just ran out of paper, so I can't finish "The Sunset Tree" until tomorrow.  I did finish "A Gentleman's Gentleman" and the Entr'Acte, so it was a profitable day.

I'm happy to announce the October gathering is generating a lot of travel to the City.  DRJane, I think you should stay through Saturday.  Of course I'm speaking selfishly.

DRJose, when are you back in New York?

Good night, all!

DR Jason et al.... I just searched the archives, and found my "suggested walking and eating tour of NYC" based on my own walking and eating tours I treated myself to while I was there in March with Jewish Thighs On Broadway.   Here it is again for your perusal:

Quote
Although, I'm thinking we should start and end with the wallking tour portion.  We can start at the Westway Diner on 9th for breakfast, or down in the Lower East Side and The Donut Plant, or down in Chelsea Market at Sarabeth's or Amy's Breads, or....

Then we can walk to Magnolia Bakery for a cupcake or two... Then to Chocolate Bar for a truffle or two...  The the Krispy Kreme in the Village... Or John's Pizza... Or Cones for some gelato... or back over to the LES for some fish & chips at A Salt & Battery.  -And, yes, they do serve Scotch Eggs!

Then in the late afternoon, we can check out The Chippery in Chelsea (they make custom batches of potato, sweet potato and/or beet chips to order - great dipping sauces too!)... Then to F&B (Frankfurters & Beignets) for some great "European" street food (and, yes, they have smoked tofu dogs - and fried green beans!)...  And if it's the right day, we can check out the Green Market in Union Square (breads, vegetables, etc.. even wine!)... -And a new Whole Foods just opened across the street...

Or if you want to stroll up Fifth Avenue... There's Maison du Chocolat...  Minamoto Kitchoan for exquisite Japanese sweets...  Or we can do full Japanese tea in the Tea Room at Takashimaya... Perhaps a wine tasting at Morelli...  There are a couple of great falafel and kebab carts long that stretch too.

And then to finish off the day... We can go up 8th Ave... Dinner at Artie's...  Perhaps some dim sum at Ollie's...  A Beard Papa Cream Puff or two (although, I'm going to have to try their Mango Over Shaved Ice dessert sometime next week)... Then up a few more blocks to H&H to stock up on some bagels (unless you want to go to the Hell's Kitchen location)... And Zabar's, of course!

And then there's Brooklyn, Queens, Harlem, Long Island, The Bronx...etc., etc., etc...

Oops... I forgot about Williams-Sonoma!
