Had weird dreams involving having to insure earrings made of testicles. I don’t deal in the insurance side of things. I don’t know why —and I didn’t know in the dream — why I was being asked to do it. It was all bizarre and uncomfortable. And the design of the earrings was tacky.

We completely lucked out on the storms last night. As the line got to us, it sort of collapsed into just rain and a little wind. But it strengthened south of here and apparently hit NJ pretty hard.

Too bad about that Wim Wenders film, certainly in regard to Sam Fuller's presence. That's just sad. I'll take a pass on that.

I'm not necessarily crazy about Wenders, myself. I've never gotten into WINGS OF DESIRE, which "everyone" loves. I do like PARIS, TEXAS - but I usually like that kind of "road" movie, anyway. At least I think you can call it that. I haven't watched it in a while.

The college's closing performance of that woodsy musical is at an odd time for a Sunday -- 6:00 pm. It would ordinarily have been a matinee, but other events there today forced their hand. So at least it isn't an 8:00 curtain on a Sunday night. I do look forward to seeing what I was only hearing through the monitors. It will also be good to hear the resulting mix and to meet my fellow pianist.

The sound mix is handled by the Emmy award winning sound guy on many of the "live" TV musicals of the past several years. He lives up there and regularly provides that service to the college. The only downside is that the theeder's speaker system is less than stupendous. It's one that I suspect is fine for plays and such, but for music you need speakers that can move air, and these do fall a bit short.

I feel the same about Wenders, though perhaps in reverse. I loved Wings of Desire and hated Paris, Texas. I also loved American Friend and Pina, but wasn’t overly thrilled with the director’s cut of End of the World.

Dr. John G., the Nos. 11 and 32 were the quarter-pound and half-pound versions of one of the most luscious cheeseburgers ever to cross my lips.

It came with Russian Dressing and bacon, and I always added a scoop of chopped onions from the relish tray on the table. The flavor and juiciness of their beef was to die for, and I always ordered these medium or medium-rare for the most wonderful taste sensation ever. Not to belabor the point...

I discovered the Hamlet on the day I arrived in Hollywood on a one-week visit, the year before I decided to move there, and when my friend and I did move there the following summer, our first meal stop was at that Hamlet for that meal.
