George, I tried that first yesterday on the NY Sun website (the email I received had included the link).  Your two weeks "free" is included in the upfront charge, so you have to pay, which I will not (cheap, cheap, cheap).

Hilarity on CASTRECL department:  Someone just posted about Porter's You'll Never Know, saying that "Farnsworth Alley" recorded it.  I think we have a new name for that which has remained nameless.   ;D

Farnsworth Alley's limited releases include that fantastic followup to "Frances Farmer Swings Fat Domino," "Richard Farnsworth Croaks the Tony Bennett Songbook."

My new theme for work is "Every Day a Little Death."  If it weren't for all this delicious talk of pastries and potato dishes, I don't know how I would make it through!

DR TPunk: What is it you do? I don't recognize you from my office, so you must be suffering some other form of death than the one I suffer. I feel your pain.

Jed: I will try my best to remember to ask her for the recipe for the Luscious Potatoes. I think I was supposed to post a bunch of other recipes here, too, at some point, but I fuh-got.

Hee hee- I work in HR for a "major commercial broadway theater company".  I actually enjoy a good number of the people I work with as well as the environment.  Really it is just my boss and the way she insists on running our department into the ground and sucking my soul that gets me down.  Luckily it's only for a little while longer.  I'm leaving in 6 weeks and 3 days to finish my social work degree and do an internship with the Jewish Board.  ;D

TPunk, are you familiar with the Jewish Child Care Agency (JCCA)?

No, I'm not.  I wonder if they are or were at some point associated with the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services.

How could I forget potato salad?  As with fries, however, I'm rather picky about potato salad.  Not too much mayo, of course, and the potatoes must not be too hard or too mushy...either way will ruin the salad for me.
Condiment-wise, I love ranch on fries, ketchup but no tobasco on hashbrowns for me, and loves me some good gravy on my mashed potatoes.

Random mashed potatoes story -  Early in my childhood, my father decided to get creative in his attempts to get me to eat my veggies.  Knowing I would eat mashed potatoes like there was no tomorrow, he mashed up carrots along with the potatoes.  He tried to get me to believe the orange color was cheese.  I was not fooled, naturally.  I did, however, eat them...and they weren't half bad!

Well, it is syrup on fried mashed potatos. It is pretty good!

I believe I recorded You'll Never Know.  I believe the director and adaptor of the show paid for the recording.

I am horrified to see that flights from Portland to Burbank have gone from $158 round trip 6 months ago to $340 the last several weeks and now are at $389!!! Son of a *&$#@...I am already commited to going, and I sure don't want to miss going...but for the sake of Buddha why does it have to be so expensive right now?

Does it get any cheaper if I wait until the last minute to get a ticket...or does that make it MORE expensive?

On the flip side, I am slowly figuring out places I want to visit in New York, New York...The Museum of Radio and Television where I can view, to my hearts delight, TV programs starring Allison Hayes and June Kenney and to the Little India section of Queens.

It took me a long time to get used to the idea of malt vinegar on french fries, but once I did--yum!

It took me a long time, too....from the moment I got the fish 'n chips handed to me in some newspaper until I got the first chip into my mouth!  That was in 1973 -- and I wondered why I'd never heard of, or had, the combination before!

Heaven!

Duh!  I didn't even think that MatHough was our own DR MattH.  I thought it was an instance of some outside lurker who horned in on our act.

Congrats to DR MattH!

Back from lunch at a spot called "The Cuckoo's Nest" down on Oakland's 3rd Street.

From the "Specials" menu, I selected the reuben sandwich w/green salad.  Totally scrumptious!

Don't tell me you work for those hateful folks at Tams-Witmark!?!?!

LOL and when I'm in NY I will be very grateful for my cell phone. :)

So will I, DR Jane. The two friends I'm traveling with will each have his cell phone and as we usually go in different directions, they're a great way to monitor unexpected situations while one is away from home.

I have to say that my cell phone gets very little local use, but as I have unlimited long distance minutes on it, it's really nice keeping in touch with friends I have all over the country.

I went last summer, DR JRand, but the theater wing was closed much to my dismay. Still enjoyed the rest of the museum, and I had never been there before despite many, many trips to NYC.

There are times when I refer to my current situation as "My Dilbert Days."  Today is not one of them, though  :)

Congratulations, DR TPunk, on your upcoming return to school and completion of your degree.

And, congratulations to DR MattH, on solving the trivia quiz.

Well off to the theatre to make improvements in my choreography requested by the director....whew!  How do you direct a musical and NEVER leave your chair?

I may be mistaken, but I think it has been made clear where DR TPUNK works, no matter what channel your tv is tuned to.
