We needed some more Lorenz Hart.

Meet me underneath our little tree in the park;
No one else around but you and me in the dark.
Just five minutes from your door step
I'll wait for your step
To come along,
And the city's noise becomes a song!

My best friend from high school is back in my hometown today (Norwalk, CT), and she texted me this photo (from today) of the house I grew up in. We were at the end of a small cul-de-sac, only 7 houses on the street.

That's pretty cool.

At 4:15 my rather good day did a 180 degree turn to hell. When I went into the bathroom to give the cats clean water, I noticed the toilet had only partially flushed earlier, so I flushed it. One minute later i was standing in a puddle as the toilet overflowed. It was completely gross mess running all over the bathroom floor. I started throwing towels onto the mess and then rolled them up in the bathroom rug. I poured a cup of Liquid Tide onto the rug and decided to launder them. The only problem was when i got onto the floor to pick the items up, they were too heavy to lift, I couldn't stand,  and I couldn't get the wet rug and towels into the utility bag on my walker. Then I knocked the walker over and the garbage waiting to go to the basement spilled all over the kitchen floor.

At that point I completely wigged out, sitting between the kitchen and bathroom door and screaming fuckfuckfuck over and over at the top of my lungs. I lost it. My neighbor below me came running up to check on me, and after telling her, "I can't do this alone," I started weeping like a wild thing, wailing and crying, I don't want to go into assisted living." When I finally calmed down, she helped me load up my walker.  We went to the basement, sorted the garbage, and put the rug and towels into the washer. I just brought the dried things up.

Back from cashing check, a great lunch with Home Theater Forum regular and Kritzerland supporter Allen Hollis at the Smokehouse - I had my cup of soup, shrimp cocktail, and wedge, he had their amazing fish and chips. We have lots of fun chatting it up.

Has anyone read Curtis Sittenfeld? She is said to be funny. And I can always use a few laughs.

No.  Curtis is an unusual name for a woman.

DR elmore3003 - I'm sorry about the end of your day. Can the toilet be fixed quickly, at least?

I purchased a small bag of sugar free Zero chocolate at 7-Eleven in Osaka.  The ingredients are in Japanese.

I have chosen not to support Walgreens any longer, since they are caving to the far right and refusing to provide abortion medications, even in states where they are still legal.

What?!

ChocZero is the official name, but yes, I do recommend them!

Monday evening greetings!  Today was the last regular meeting of a ladies’ group for which I’ve been program chair this year.  All I have to do now is coordinate next month’s catered luncheon and then I can turn this responsibility over to Rhonda.  It’s been very satisfying, but I am ready to be DONE!

I'm at Panda Express.  It's busy here, so most of the food is pretty fresh.

DR singdaw, did you get early retirement severance pay? Or is that included in the $5.64?

DR Elmore, very sorry to hear about the mess. And very glad you have neighbors who don't hesitate to respond when they hear something. (I know it's not every neighbor.)
