Oz TV is auditioning would bes for the Australian version of "Queer Eye".  I assume they will only audition in Sydney. (It is of course the people who live in Melbourne and Adelaide thay have real taste). And today's paper informs that UK TV will be presenting an "International Idol show at Christmas". I really needed that. Still, the US of A has to tolerate Crocodile man and the UK thinks that "Neigbours" is ace. What do I know?

And you want to watch great screen acting, watch Natalie Wood in the railroad station scene in Gypsy - first with Tulsa and then her reactions to Everything's Coming Up Roses.

Interesting another website concurs with BK

Broadcast from the Moulin Rouge, a theatre-restaurant on Sunset Boulevard near Vine Street in Hollywood, the show also featured a daily fashion show with commentary by Jeanne Cagney, sister of actor James Cagney.

My GYPSY CD did not come today :(

so I had to content myself with THE SOLID GOLD CADILLAC DVD. Oh, what a wonderfully funny movie. Nice to have it in anamorphic widescreen, but they didn't clean it up as much as I'd have liked to have seen. Still, no major complaints.

And then you want to howl with laughter, watch Betty Bruce and Faith Dane's timing in the "I don't do scenes" scene.  Faith Dane is unbelievably brilliant and Betty Bruce's timing on "Who're you?  Her mother?" is great.

When Natalie Wood lost the Oscar for SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS, she was working on GYPSY at the time and specifically the strip sequence. Warner Bros. flooded newspapers with publicity pictures of Natalie in all her scantily clad beauty trying to build up her confidence after losing that award.

We all knew Natalie was a beauty, but when she steps out of that bathroom in that blue satin dress and we see her grown up for the first time, what a revelation!

Three cheers to Noel for all these delightful songs.  One day you must publish these as The Songs of HHW :)

Craig... poor vous.  Working late is never fun - especially when you aren't paid by the hour.  Just think of all the calories you're buring being frustrated and how well you will sleep tonight! ;)

I went to see Black Comedy tonight and was very much amused.  I think the play was just long enough to be funny and cute and interesting without overstaying its welcome.  All of the actors were good - although a few had problems with the accents.  The set, like all McGill Theatre Department productions was kick ass - very professional looking (remember I come from the black hole of amateur anglo theatre known as Montreal so any set piece that isn't culled from the director's mother's living room = fah-bu-lous).

Even Andrea liked it! (which is saying a lot because we have very different tastes normally...)

Jennifer: I think Andrea and I will be going to see Hillel's EVITA despite my earlier rant.  It shows at the end of February.  If you wanna meet up with us to form our own HHW-Get Together that would be fun.  In the meantime don't forget to check out the McGill Savoy Society's Pirates of Penzance.  They are ten times better than the Gilbert and Sullivan's performed by the Montreal West and Lakshore Operatic Societies... mainly because they use the resources of actual voice students from the music department :)

DR Tom, that International Idol Show is a contest to choose the #1 World Idol. Winners from many different countries will compete to be chosen #1.

There also was a movie called Queen For a Day with Darren McGavin and Phyllis Avery in 1951. This must have been the first movie spin off of a TV series. Anyone can confirm or deny this?

Are you sure that wasn't the alternate title for THE CHRISTINE JORGENSEN STORY?

DR Michael, is this a famous caricature you're using as your picture ID. Is this character someone we should know (other than you, of course).

Taking a little informal poll here. Who is the better Sweedish director. Ingmar Bergman or Kirsten Bjorn ;)

Thanks TD. With all the photos I have been experimenting with today I feel like a Karma chameleon.
Matt D. So I gathered. I am proud to say I have never watched a moment. There was an Oz newspaper article the other week on "what had happened to" winners of such contrived programmes  manufacturing  Pop Groups etc - After a very short time in the sun - zilch.

Well I'm back from a long time at work. I'm really liking this job! The people there are really nice, and they hired a new cook who's about 24 and GORGEOUS! So I'm having fun. AND, our very own DR Laura II works a few stores away, and she stopped in for dessert tonight, so I got to see her! Last time we met up was at TMM on my birthday, so it was MUCH too long. And I am working tomorrow night too, so no Dracula :(. Luckily I know someone who has a bootleg, so I can watch it later.

Ron: Don't be gumpy about your kitty being bad! Walk in the sunshine! :) -To quote someone else I know-

Maya and Laura II- Thanks for the SAT comments. I'm happy with my scores, but I know I could have done better. I guess thats a good problem to have, though!

Jay and Jane: THANK YOU for your sweet comments about my Algebra grade! That seriously made my day. I yelled with glee when I saw the score and I think I might have scared him a bit, but I know he was proud of me for working so hard to get the grade. Things are looking up in the messy world of math.

Random Update on Something: My brother and his girlfriend may be breking up. Very, very soon. I am so happy I could dance! In fact, I will dance! This is news for celebration, I'm putting it on the calendar if it happens. No more witch!

Question: How were your days today?

Well, in the USA, AMERICAN IDOL invites previous winners and runners-up back on the show to make guest appearances, especially if they have a new CD to hawk, so they keep them in the public eye pretty well because they have a venue right at hand they can use.

I'm sure the 3rd edition of AMERICAN IDOL will be popular, but I just don't see how it can top the amazing down-to-the-wire competition between Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard this past season here.

THanks for the answer, DR Michael. It's a GREAT face.

It's past midnight here in the East. Time for me to head down for bed. I'll be back (a Terminator reference), but it'll be tomorrow. Hey, it already IS tomorrow here!  :D
