Does anyone knows w if they are using Sebesky’s arrangements for the Parade revival?

There's a tribute post by JRB in the Musical Theatre Orchestration group that says yes.

It is supposed to rain here for the next 4 days. I need sun or I find it affects my mood. I plan to use my light therapy lamp a lot. I've only had it for a few months. Does anyone else use light therapy?

They are.  Jason Robert Brown loved Sebesky.

DR Elmore, good story.
Who else would you include in the Worst Handwritten Manuscripts lineup?

Offhand, I can't think of seeing worse manuscript. Of the manuscripts I've looked at, and I cannot remember all of the names now, Victor Herbert's is almost as bad as Sebesky; his orchestrators Harold Sanford and Otto Langey were much cleaner and cleaner to read. Russell Bennett's is very neat, and Phil Lang's is also. Don Walker's is messier. I've seen Michael Gibson's,  Sid Ramin's and Irwin Kostal's but they left no impression after all this time. Jonathan Tunick's is amazingly neat, like Ravel.

After listening to BK and DR Donald's interview, I did a spot-check on the various recordings of "Multitudes of Amys," and all of them, including Sondheim's own (on Sondheim Sings Sondheim) use either BK's/DR elmore3003's extended playout, or some version thereof.

I orchestrated it twice: originally for Muchael Rupert and several years later for Sean McBermott.

And now it's almost time for me to get ready to go see Marat/Sade, and I must get something to eat beforehand.

I'll be back in time for the Zoom.

Thank goodness I checked in just now.

I have spent the morning thinking it was Saturday.

Where did THAT day go?

Steal the conductor's score.  I love Marat/Sade! I once orchestrated a show for Richard Peaslee, who really shat on me. I still love his music but nt the man.

The brilliant arranger and orchestrator Don Sebesky has died. I met him at a Boston Pops rehearsal for either Sarah Jessica Parker or Nathan Lane. Besides being a fantastic artist, he had the worst handwritten manuscripts I've ever encountered. In 1993, I proofread his scores for Cyrano: The Musical when the show was copied by Chelsea Music Service, and they were impossible to read. One day I proofread the newly copied band parts to "Moonsong," and nothing seemed right, from chords to notes. I walked with Don Oliver to the theatre where the piece was read down by the orchestra. It remains one ogf the most ravishing and magical things I have ever heard. RIP, Don Sebesky.

Oh no! I love Don’s work! He pops up on so many records I have and did some great jazz work of his own and with others on Creed Taylor’s CTI label.

I'd always like to be stealing a conductor's score, thankyouverymuch.  :)

But would there actually be something other than the piano/vocal (which I found online at some point)?

Jason Robert Brown gives us this link to the Sebesky full score of "The Old Red Hills of Home".

There's more in the score than the printed score, and the band orchestration - harmonium, trumpet, guitar, flute, tuba, percussion - is wonderful.

Well, I certainly enjoyed Bruce's impressions of me, although I think Jason Graae may hold the title.
