I just found out that a small thing I'm accompanying next Tuesday evening at a musical theatre training organization will include a piece from The Cradle Will Rock and a scene or two from The Pirates of Penzance. What a refreshing change of pace! Seriously. I don't know these people, but I like them already. And apparently the jernt has a very good reputation anyhoo.

Love, love, love Cradle and Penzance both.

Just got the music. They're doing the song from Cradle ("That's thunder, that's lightning..."). And from Pirates:  "Climbing over rocky mountain", "Stop, ladies, pray!", "Oh, is there not one maiden breast" and "Poor wandering one". The one musical theatre concession will be Wildhorn's "When I look at you".

And when I was looking for my SitPwG vocal score in my storage unit, I found my (former library) original 1938 publication of the The Cradle Will Rock script that had the sheet music of several (but not all) of the songs! :D

Wildhorn? When you think of all the wonderful musical theatre writers from Bernstein to Weill and they choose Wildhorn? Holy shit!

I've never cared much for The Cradle Will Rock. I think my favorite Blitzstein contributions to musical theatre are his Threepenny Opera adaptation and Juno.

TOD 1:

The first Christmas I was in San Antonio, I was sick with pneumonia. I only had Kurosawa’s The Lower Depths to watch. It’s about life’s rejects discovering that bad times can always get worse.

Did it depress you more or make you feel better ;D

So I saw Dr. Feldman this morning.

I learned about the history of diabetes from prehistoric times right up until this morning.

I was also treated to free hand drawings of my internal organs - which looked much different than I thought they would.  But it was interesting nonetheless.

I also learned that Dr. Feldman played John Truitt in his 8th grade production of MEET ME IN SAINT LOUIS at the PRIVATE Orchard Day School in Indianapolis....

I will now take one Metformin tablet in the morning and TWO at bedtime and I have to test my sugar twice a day for the next two weeks.

And he broke up with the girlfriend that is in his bio video on the website.

Wow, you learned a lot.  He needs to change his photo-lol

I am also supposed to put Vicks Vapo Rub on my toenails.

:o What's that for?

My question as well.

Having the last piece of chess pie. It’s gotten better with time.

Great, you can bake it ahead of the day you need to serve it.

DR Jrand72 is smoking a menthol while polishing his toenails?  I'm so confused...

I shall watch the bloopers when I return.

I was cast as Dennis/Perkins in THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG - so there is that.  And the only annoying person involved in the play is one of the stage crew.....a stupid girl who knows absolutely nothing listens to no one who tries to help her.

Congrats, Jrand!
