One by one, the actors made their way through the tables and chairs where we were all sitting. One side of the dining room was bare except for a bench and four music stands  which held each man's script.

Each had a golf bag and each was dressed "for golf" in different eras.

A few cherce comments was made by all four about how each was dressed.

Each scene was announced by a "girl" with a card that read which Tee they were on.

Act one was Tees 1-9; and Act two was Tees 10-18.

As one of the golfers was drinking beer throughout the play, someone thought the card girl should be drinking also.

As she made her way in between scenes, she was progressively drunker and "naughty".

To make a long story shorter, I will say that by the end of the two hours I found I had enjoyed myself.

Not immensely, but enough to appreciate that the four men each had talents that were allowed to shine through some really awkward staging replete with lulls that ruined the pacing of some lively scenes.

Each scene had each man teeing off with a golf club. Only one of them seemed to grasp the idea of addressing a ball with stance and swing.  The other three were woefully inept as golfers who regularly play.

What I got from the play was that someone (Norm Foster) with a keen sense of golfing humor used this device to reveal some truths about the friendship of four men who hadn't seen each other in 15 years.  It had sass, it had vulgarity (toned way down for all the elderly among us), and each actor had "a moment" when he addressed the audience on an issue that had arisen about his life since college and how he was living it.

I rather enjoyed the idea behind the play and cannot help imagining it in a more rehearsed and faster-paced presentation.  During the play, each man revealed truths that were painful, and they explored the nature of why folks don't stay in touch after having been so close in school,

Have finished my blueberry muffin (and looking forward to apple fritters in coming days -- Thank you, Sam's Club).

Will resume sipping my coffee before it's too cold.

If I wasn't clear, I did enjoy myself last night.

I could use a few more nights out on a monthly basis.

Have fun with Freyja today!

The co-directors, both local women with whom I am acquainted, addressed us.

One informed us that the presentation would be like "reader's theater".  In other words, while the actors did know their lines, they would be reading from scripts as well.

And, the show would last two hours, with intermission.

Oh.

My.

God.

I can hear Freyja coughing while eating breakfast.  We shall see what the day brings.  We are all tired. Originally the plan was to have lunch with Jose but I doubt that will happen now.  On the upside I didn't expect the nice long walk after breakfast yesterday which was a special treat.

DR Ron I want to write a play based on just your experience of seeing that play! That was a rollercoaster of emotions! Does kind of sound like a neat idea.
