What I got from the play was that someone (Norm Foster) with a keen sense of golfing humor used this device to reveal some truths about the friendship of four men who hadn't seen each other in 15 years. It had sass, it had vulgarity (toned way down for all the elderly among us), and each actor had "a moment" when he addressed the audience on an issue that had arisen about his life since college and how he was living it.
I rather enjoyed the idea behind the play and cannot help imagining it in a more rehearsed and faster-paced presentation. During the play, each man revealed truths that were painful, and they explored the nature of why folks don't stay in touch after having been so close in school,
