Today was full of banking mishaps. The rent on my safe deposit box renews next week and I wanted to surrender the box before then as part of my transition to the new bank. I called the new bank the other day. Yes, they had a box available, but a size down from what I preferred. Today I went to the old bank to empty out the box. When I walked in there were only two other customers in the bank, both being helped. I walked up to the unoccupied teller and said I wanted to surrender my box. She asked if I had an appointment. An appointment? No. She said she could book one for Monday. What? I’m here now and there’s only one other customer besides me. (My thought, not my words.) After telling me I’d have to wait, a coworker spoke to her and she was suddenly available. I cannot understand not helping a customer who is standing right in front of you. I emptied, then surrendered the box.
