I’ve had pho many a time. It’s something I never crave but always enjoy once I’ve had it.

Now if you’re weary of the words, those foolish little words, you find in every song… look what I’ve brought along.
Simply a tune for humming. Mmmm etc

I first heard/found that song on a 78 by the great Eddy Howard.

Woody Herman, Hoagy Carmichael and Bob Houston all had competing versions out that same year, 1947.

At the time I found that (in an antique mall occupying the former Ben Franklin in my old hometown) I was scrounging with a pal for 78s, 45s, anything that looked good, and of all the good stuff we found we kept seeing the name Frank Loesser. We found a silver-label 45 Ep sampler of songs from The Most Happy Fella, we were hooked.

It was “Don’t Cry,” “Big D,” “Standing on the Corner,” and “Joey Joey Joey”

“Standing on the Corner” I already knew from the Four Lads version which I’d hear when oldies radio was still going back before Elvis a bit.

I wonder what an oldies station plays today. New wave?

My first pho experience was in an Oakland eatery I really enjoyed.  I would usually order the clay pot as it was a total delight.  The Clay Pot meal featured crab meat and Asian veggies, rice and just the right mix of spices.

So, I wondered, what would the pho be like?

Six-alarm fire from the first taste.  It had only hit my tongue before I realized I was in deep trouble.   Lots of water was consumed, and I did manage to eat a sufficient amount of the noodles (once extracted from the killer soup) to satisfy my hunger, most of which was put off by the heat.   My pho curiousity was satisfied.

I have a favorite pho I now order from Amazon on a three-month basis (recurring order). I prepare it from provided ingredients and control how much heat, if any, goes into it.

Amazon has many different pho offerings, but the one I like is the Instant Pho Beef/Chicken Combo Pack of 4 / Authentic Vietnamese Soup/Pholicious Brand,

I first encountered this on QVC and ordered from there.  But it's also on Amazon, and that is where I get it now.

I shall refrain from pondering where the week has gone.

It has gone, for me, by virtue of deliberate procrastination.  I have succesfully avoided most of what my mind, weak as it has become, had decided I needed to do.

Johnston has its own radio station that specializes in "Classic Hits and Carolina Beach Music", most of which is from the 50s-70s.   This used to be an over-the-air broadcast, but the owner of the station sold it to a Christian blue grass network, so the guys who had been running the station started an online radio service called Timeless Jukebox Radio.

Applie iPhone has the app.

I have absolutely no idea where this day is going or in what capacity I shall be along for the ride.

I do know, however, this day starts the 3-day Memorial Day weekend.

Memorial Day is an observance of all those who gave their lives for American democracy and our precious way of life.

Have a safe weekend in your plans, please.  Enjoy any travel, any water fun, cookouts, what have you.  But please be safe about it.

Please note the lack of the word "else" in the preceding sentence.

I only ask because he is on an episode of "Murder, She Wrote" playing in the background as I type.

I found this poster image online.  It was dated 1995.  Gunn has a remarkable voice, IMO.

I, too, loved Mighty Mouse and the song.  I used to sing it a lot when I was a kid.

I loved Superman more, but there were no lyrics to his theme song.

Did anyone else have their mom (or someone else) pin a towel on your shirt's shoulders so that you could run around with a "cape"?

I see that Jack Randall Earles is active along with zero guests.

He may be reading, or he may be resting.

Yes we are having fine weather here in time for The Race.

The Race that used to have ALL of the state of Indiana in a tizzy...nothing was talked about for the entire month of MAY.  It was an event not to be missed.

And now it's just another race....no checkered flags in all the small towns....no parades or convertibles driving around small towns with beauty queens in the back....no discussion of all of the drivers and arguments over who is/was the best.....

It's just another race.
