Have you consulted an allergist about this?

The day should be absolutely gorgeous in Johnston SC.  It is currently 67 degrees, and the high is projected to be 82.   Some clouds will be mixed in with the blue, sunny sky.

Air quality is considered "moderate".  Index 53.

No reason to go anywhere or do anything is why.  Post office is closed.  I have plenty of food in the refrigerator and freezer. I have cherry pie and vanilla ice cream for my dessert.

I have a Zoom chat this afternoon.

And, I have more episodes of "Manifest" left to watch on Netflix, which does have the entire series available to anyone interested/curious.

I'd tell you about my dreams last night, but I can't recall them.

I did sleep fairly well.

For the past two days, Johnston was part of an annual event called the 23-Mile Yard Sale.  It stretches 23 miles along a state road, a route that takes it straight through town.

It's always best to know this is happening, because if you take that route to go anywhere, there are dozens of Looky-Loo drivers who will simply crawl down the road craning their necks to see what is displayed out in the yards on both sides of the route.  Happily, there are stretches where there is nothing on display and you almost get to do the speed limit.

As it was, though, a five-minute drive could take up to 15 minutes.  Because this is the South, folks do not get angry, or express road rage, during this weekend.  There are ways to get around it all simply by taking side roads which are absolutely faster during the sale period.

Needless to say, a small town like Johnston has its predictable amounts of traffic throughout any given day, but on yard sale weekend, it's insane.  That is why I stocked up so I could stay in.

Now I must shower and get ready to go to the Mad House....I mean the Open House.

Then we have a Meeting of the Bored and afterwards we will record an episode of the TV show with the director of ANYTHING GOES where he is talking about what he wants to see at auditions.

The sun came back out today, but it's still a cool one. High of 64, I believe? Tomorrow I think we at least get back into the 70s.

Elliott Carter is one of the most well known composers I've given no attention to. I've known his name for virtually all of my life, but I can't think of a single note of his I've listened to, tonal or serial.

I look forward to DR Elmore's reporting back on the Jew's Harp.

I never understood the thing, but I do think I've seen it notated at least once. But where? And was it just rhythm, or melodic? Obviously that memory is useless.

The one orchestral piece I know I've heard it in (on a recording) is Charles Ives' Washington's Birthday, and I assumed it was closely miked, at least on that recording. Or could it really be expected to be heard in a live setting? I'd had the impression that it made a tiny sound and was something you would generally only be able to hear, acoustically, in a tiny band. But I am here to learn!

I've never even seen a Jew's Harp before.
I've never written for a Jew's Harp before.

Not a part of Moonshine and Mistletoe?

Isn’t is used in Floyd Collins?
