Some of my favorite dishes don’t require frying….summer rolls and green papaya salad.

There were so many people in New York staying home last night to watch the news coverage, that several restaurants were forced to suspend delivery temporarily.

My friend who lives on the UWS tried to get dinner delivered from 4 different restaurants at 5:30PM, but received a message that delivery was not available due to current overwhelming demand.

She finally ended up with a burger from P.J. Clarke’s at 6:30PM.

I love Paia more than Lahaina. But no walking this time. Just a drive through. It was very busy.

Rest. I was too long in the car yesterday and things began to ache again.

A trip out for shave ice. I found a place called Peace Love that has some natural flavors. Yesterday I had a fun combination of li hing (a local flavor made from sour, salted plums) and pineapple over coconut ice cream and ice. Excellent.

I didn’t but I know that hotel. It has a gorgeous Henry Moore sculpture in the gardens. It’s just down the street.

I remember that sculpture and the gardens. We were staying next door at the Kea Lani, which had just opened.

I just had two (2) sunny side up eggs, two (2) slices of Pepperidge Farm 15-grain toast, and two (2) (do you see a pattern forming here?) cups of coffee. Which actually makes three (3) cups altogether, since I had my usual first-thing-in-the-morning one earlier.

I'm not sure who needed to know all of this, but I think I've got it covered for whoever did.

On my first trip to Maui, we started on the road to Hana. There was a waterfall that you could swim under, so we stopped for a dip. By the parking area there was a makeshift shave ice stand, kinda like a lemonade stand. They folks running it were only serving mango, but they made the syrup from the mangoes growing around them.

I’m told that’s extremely rare. I also know I’ve never had a shave ice that good ever again.

Treat Williams singing “I Got Life” is wonderful.

I wish they would do a special edition DVD with the cut numbers in an appendix. I had a college friend who was a dresser on the film; "Air" was shot on the George Washington Bridge in a traffic jam, and "Frank Mills" was filmed in three different locations including the Waverly Theatre.
