I wonder what the Amazon Delivery Driver course says about what to do in this situation?

On weekends the deliveries are made by US Postal workers.

I went to the post office (having skipped going yesterday) and got a bunch of mail which i have now sorted through.

I went to Third Generation and got fried chicken, mac 'n cheese, lima beans and black-eyed peas.  Unsweet tea for beverage.

Looks really good.  It's enough for lunch and supper, too.

'Tis been a very quiet morning here at the house, as I slept in late (but I was up till nearly 2:30 a.m., so still didn't get a lot of sleep) and we're all just sitting inside here today because of the abominable weather du jour.

Flood warnings abound everywhere, at least for the next few hours, and some 2/3 of New England - including the Lawn Guyland, vixmom - are under a tornado watch till 3 p.m. or so.

It should now be acknowledged that it's not even the abominable weather du jour. It's the abominable weather du summer 2023. Of course we are hardly alone. While the northeast soaks, much of the rest of the country burns up.

While I was out and about, the air felt really good.  Warm, yes, but not hot or smothering.

It won't last, of course, but it's nice to know it's still possible.

Boy, did I luck out on choosing last night to attend the outdoor theeder.

PERFECT weather (allowing for the humidity, but I was comfortable). The slightly threatening evening rain didn't make an appearance, and the Addams cast and crew had a wonderful evening. Was the show perfect? No, but certain segments of it were highly enjoyable, and it was just so good to have an evening's reprieve outdoors from the awfulness of the summer so far.

My oh my, what a lot of WORDS there were in the notes this morning!  :)

It's a great story, and a wonderful reunion will be taking place this week. Look forward to hearing about it.

Amazon owes DR Elmore but good.

Even if it wasn't their own driver being careless with the delivery, their packaging had to SUCK for that to happen.

I'm slated to attend another outdoor theeder presentation next weekend, so good luck, weather-wise, to me and to them. Different venue, different town:  a production of The Importance of Being Earnest which a friend is in. She was in Diana Canova's reading of Steel Magnolias, and is a delightful singer in addition to being a good actress.

There have been.  This one seemed plausible to me.

Had a nice dinner with a friend who lost her father to covid recently. He was almost 98.

That is sad, though it is nice to have a friend to talk about these difficult times.

It is eerie, wondering if it is safe to go outside.

Probably not.  I find it difficult to stay inside on days like this.

And unsettling after 3 years of the pandemic.

I found it unsettling before the pandemic, but I understand what you are saying.

It is now down to 132.

Here in Johnston SC, the AQI is 27.  Of course, it's hot as the hinges to the gates of hell, but at least we can breathe safely.

DR George, I thought around ten years ago, Jack the Ripper through DNA was discovered to have been a Soho butcher.

Around 2000, plagiarist nitwit author Patricia Cornwell wrote a book about Jack the Ripper, claiming that she had solved the question of the Ripper's identity. She identified the killer as Walter Sickert, a painter at the time. She's now written a second book, Sickert, about the killer. Well, she's a liar: around 1975 British author Stephen Knight wrote Jack the Ripper: the Final Solution, naming - guess who? - Walter Sickert as the killer in association with Queen Victoria's surgeon and the Masons to stop the news of one of the royal prince's marriage and child with one of Sickert's models! This meant tracking down the wife and her witnesses at the wedding to silence them.

This royal scandal was the basis for Bob Clark's wonderful film Murder by Decree.

I had a former co-worker who loved to read true crime stories.  She read that Patricia Cornwell book and believed absolutely everything in it.  I never read it, so I can't say anything, but she just went on and on about how fascinating it all was. ::)

What a mess this morning has become! Thank you and fuck you to yesterday's Amazon delivery person who ignored the fact that one side of a carton coming to me was soaking wet and dripping liquid soap from its interior. No, the sonofabitch left it under the mailboxes, and this morning, when I went down for yesterday's mail and packages, there was a huge puddle of Palmolive dishwashing soap with two packages for me sitting in the middle of it.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!! :o
