I’m feeling grumpy today. I am now at war with Cedars-Sinai, my medical group, due to their continued stupidity, rudeness, and lack of sensitivity to their patients. I sent my PCP a rather scathing email on Friday, because I was so fed up. He’s not the problem and everything in it we’ve talked about. I’m hoping he’ll forward it to the appropriate people, but have no confidence that anything will change.

That is exactly how I feel at the moment.

Yesterday I began sorting through the photos that belonged to my late downstairs neighbor. His partner was a professional photographer who covered many Hollywood events. I saw photos of Carol Channing, Bob Hope, Liza Minnelli, Susan Lucci, Betty White, and many who I didn’t recognize. There are many more boxes.

There are some good doctors there and also a few good nurses, but so many who are not. There are problems that have been occurring as long as I’ve been with them and I see no signs of any improvement. Senior management seems to think everything is just dandy.

That’s right. We hear a lot about making health care more accessible, but I don’t hear much about improving the quality of it. Are we in denial?

I took on the Hollywood memorabilia because the family was pretty burnt out at that point and I didn’t want to see it just trashed. They told me they’d leave a box of photos at my door. Instead I found four. And am told there are about seven more in the storage locker in the carport. There was a program from the Academy Awards sometime during the 1960s, I think, but of course I said, “You could probably sell that on eBay.” I doubt I’ll find it in any of the boxes. But, who knows? There may be something else. I think it’s worth going through, but it’ll take some time.

I don’t know yet. My experiences at U.C.L.A. were no better. Lots of the same problems. They all seem to be using the same playbook.

Or are medical personal burned out?  I have Facebook friends in England and some of them have posted very upsetting stories of trying to get proper medical care.
