If it said "Sorry I'm late.  I saw a Bernese Mountain Dog" I would not be able to resist it.

Jane, you could very easily have it made.

I can vent this here, no where else.

There's a professional theatre company in my area that just let it out there that they need 3 million dollars or they will have to close their doors.  This company takes great pride in programming a season were they feature a few World Premiers if possible, but most of the time their shows they choose are plays or musicals that are not that well known.  I see their post and I just want to say - do a few seasons of shows that people recognize and then start to work in other things.  People just want to see what they want to see.

There, I've said it.

Makes perfect sense, Matthew.

I’m glad for DD Leo, but I still would have been upset, Matthew. So, good for you.

Listening to Kristina at Carnegie Hall. I’m beginning to like a lot of it.

DR Iris (and anyone else interested in my opinion on "The White Lotus"):

I finished Season 2 this evening.  It is so vastly different from Season 1, both in location, tone and charm (i.e. it has none).

I think the actors are all pretty much first-rate with the exception, sorry to say, of Jennifer Coolidge.  Yes, I know she won an Emmy for playing Tanya McQuoid in the first season, but her character went a long way in the first season and I needed a rest from her.  Here, she was nearly unbearable, despite the interesting developments in the last couple of episodes.

My favorite characters were the Di Grassos -- F. Murray Abraham, Michael Imperioli and Adam DiMarco.  Loved the family dynamic and the fact that they were all sex-addicted souls trying to cope in a world where that male attribute is despised.

I liked the younger couples, as well, and I really liked Portia, the assistant to Tanya who was so badly treated by Tanya (Coolidge) that it made me despise that character even more.

Where was the humor?  I couldn't find any.  Where was the wit?  Non-existent.

I understand Season 3 will be set in Thailand.  One was in Hawaii and two was in Sicily.  At least they are mixing it up and showing us nice landscapes.  And Coolidge will NOT return for future seasons!!

I loved the nighttime shots of Mt. Etna erupting.

Otherwise, my day wasn't particularly special in any regard other than what I have reported.

From Rodzinski:

Quote
One family I know visiting Maui was evacuated from their hotel last night and have been sitting at the airport all day.

From what I have read they were lucky the airport had room for them.

Ultimately the airport didn’t. They’ve been staying in their rental minivan the last two nights. They believe they’ll be flying out tomorrow. Locals have been helpful.

I’ve only seen the first 3 episodes but they are quite fun

Are they cozy though?

The only real hitch was that the program that I use for the sound and slides uses two screens: the computer monitor that I watch and the projector that projects the images for the audience...the way it's always been.

Tonight, the mouse was showing on the projection screen and I couldn't figure out how to get it off and back onto the computer monitor! :o

So, I just moved it as far to the left as I could, and didn't touch the mouse until after the show.

Well, after the show, we figured out that the screens got switched on the computer and the way to move the mouse off the projection was on the other side of the screen. ::)
