Gentlemen and kind people, we have our work cut out for us if this isn’t going to be a dog of a posting night.

Well, i'm now sitting in my car and about to go home, so I'll be back in a little while.

As DR Matthew pointed out, some of these theatre companies are their own worst enemy.   Covid blame is one thing, but there are some bad programming choices out there.

My sister works for one of the top Chicago theatres. Rhymes with “Greppenwolf.” They’ve managed finances well. But this year has been a drag. I’m like, why did you go all-in on Austin Pendleton? He’s a lovely guy. But they had him directing, acting, choosing shows (the Pinter one he dropped out of). He’s not a household name that’s going to bring in big crowds.

Their holiday season play was about a woman dying of cancer. Or maybe it was the one about Russian politics. In a year nobody wants anything to do with Russia. Just downers across the board.

Last night watched a nice looking (for YouTube) print of A Cold Wind in August starring Scott Marlowe and the gorgeous and talented Lola Albright.

Great little 1961 indie movie, really. Deals with some heady sexual themes. It can’t fully cover the inner monologue of Lola’s character like the excellent novel on which it is based, but it says a lot without saying a lot.

Marlowe gives a quirky performance as a kid coming of age. World-weary Albright steams up the screen.

Scott Marlowe’s career didn’t amount to a lot. Lot of tv roles… But I did see his name on a list of guys considered for I think the Pacino role in The Godfather. What could’ve been.

They need to do BK and Doug Haverty's A Carol Christmas.

For your plates you take your info into a grocery store and they give you new plates right there. After a year they just send you new stickers in the mail. No car inspections!

Tried to harvest some figs from the fig tree this evening. I watched videos on YouTube and there’s nothing definitive. I watched a whole video where this guy picked a few of what he said were different ripeness, and they all looked the same when he cut that open. Then he said, yeah, it’s hard to give definitive guidance.

No.  We moved here in 1976 when I was 10 and the year before my dad retired from the army.

We were living in Ft. Carson, Colorado, moved here, and my dad went back finished his service back in Colorado, rather than be transfered to (then) Ft. Lewis.
