DR Jeanne I have read a number of Rhys Bowen novels, but not The Venice Sketchbook.  Once again, the only place I can get an eBook is with Kindle.  At $2.99 I purchased it.

My favorite Mac & Cheese is the recipe I use from the Ratner's cookbook.  It is not runny as it has sour cream in it and a little bit of flour.

The second time Keith ate at the deli he purchased their cookbook.  Sadly for me, by the time I had the opportunity to eat there the restaurant was gone.

I’m glad I have waited to get Last Picture Show on DVD. Criterion is releasing a 4K version later this year and including Texasville with it.

I don’t like a lot of additional ingredients in mac and cheese, and that includes lobster and crab meat. Bacon? Nope. Spinach? Nope.

There’s a barbecue joint in town that puts burnt ends in their mac and cheese. Pretty good.

Harrumph. The Bulwer-Lytton Fiction contest winners for 2023 have been announced. I didn't win. Not even a dishonorable mention.

Well, Access-a-Ride fucked me over, and I've rescheduled my trips for tomorrow. Here's my saga:
Scheduled pickup time: 8:39am
8:25 phone call: driver will arrive in 12 minutes (8:37)
8:39 phone call: driver will arrive in 7-10 minutes (8:49?)
8:50 phone call: driver will arrive in 15 minutes 9:05)
8:53 phone call: cancel my trips for today

Damn! >:(

About three years ago, I bought from Amazon a ceramic water dish for the cats that I really loved. Two days ago I broke it, and Amazon no longer carries them. I am heartbroken.

Oh, no! :(

Am I misunderstanding the meaning of prolific in this headline about Nessun Dorma?

What is Puccini’s prolific aria really about?

I like Patti LaBelle’s mac and cheese, which has egg helping hold it together. Sounds strange, I know, but it also gave it a sort of custardy quality. It calls for four cheeses and Velveeta. It was rich without being heavy.

Yes, the egg sounded strange, but the whole thing sounds incredible.

DR Elmore, I'm sorry to hear about the dish breaking, because that kind of thing has happened to me and it's such an aggravating disappointment - because you think you should be able to just get another one, and they no longer are made. If I thought about it long enough I'd likely come up with two or three good examples of that, but it's such a pisser that I don't even care to remember them at the moment.

Yes! And Criterion is also releasing in November La Ceremonie, based on Ruth Rendell's mystery A Judgment in Stone. It's a wonderfully creepy film, also starring Jacqueline Bisset.

I sent an email to the customer service dept. of Pavilion Gifts, who sold the cat dish. I got a lovely reply from a Molly Deul, who told me thet were no longer selling it and she could find none of the dtores they sell to who might have a dish for sale. She also sent me a eBay link to a seller who wanted $10.00 for one. I just purchased it, and then I sent Molly a thank you note.

Sounds like good news from Criterion today. I'll have to go see what the rest is. (They always announce around the 15th of the month.)

I also don't like an additional ingredients, but then I have never seen spinach as an option.

It has most often happened to me with shoes or boots. Have a pair ya love and wear it to death, go look for a replacement and they aren't made anymore.

I was raised on Kraft Mac n Cheese, which is sad now that I've seen the world, but there are times when one still craves the old ways, even if they aren't the best ways.

Organic brand Annie's* makes a good microwaveable Mac n Cheese, which should tell you that though I've now "seen the world" of Mac and Cheese, it doesn't mean I ever have the time to make a homemade one.

*Mildly ironic because Kraft advertisements of the '80s used to feature a precocious girl named Annie who was campaigning to change the product name to Kraft Cheese and Macaroni ("Because it's the cheese that makes it taste so good!")
