Interesting, on the "remade movies" question.

I had thought that Invasion of the Body Snatchers was an original screenplay, but it turns out it was based on a book by Jack Finney.

So, what film story, orginally written for film, has been rewritten and remade the most times?

Wow! Next week, Fox is slated to release FOUR classics in its Studio Classics line of DVDs:

HUSH HUSH SWEET CHARLOTTE

IN OLD CHICAGO

THE MAN IN THE GREY FLANNEL SUIT

A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN

They used to dole these out one a month, and now we get four in one week! What gives?

I see Van Johnson's THE PIED PIPER OF HAMELIN is also being released next week. (It may have had a prior release, but I missed it.) I have such fond memories of this from TV as a kid.

There was a TV documentary of THE BRADY BUNCH which said that Sherwood Schwartz's originbal script for THE BRADY BUNCH series was called YOURS & MINE.  Then THE BRADY BUNCH script was shelved until YOURS MINE & OURS came out and was a hit.  Then an ABC exec remembered Schwartz's YOURS & MINE script and dusted it off, so the story went.

FJL, working his way up to 40 posts, and accomplishing his goal for the night. :)

Speaking of RESCUE ME, and someone above was, the fellow who plays Jesus on RESCUE ME also played the villainous Zur in our production of THE LAST STARFIGHTER last fall.  His name is Bernardo De Paula, and he's a real up-and-comer.

And we just heard that Heather Spore, who played the ravishing "Miss July" in STARFIGHTER, was apparently just offered the lead in THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG which is being done at Two River Theater Co., about an hour fifteen minutes from NYC in Red Bank.  I think it's the first production of UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG since the Serban production at the Public a generation ago.

Do you reach some sort of new level when you make it to 50 posts?  I'm not sure if you do, but I'm wide awake and wondering if I should just go for it.

Or maybe if I keep going, I'll get us to 10 pages.  But then I'll have to do something for the new page dance, and I'm not computer savvy enough to do that!  :(

I'm back, and to prove it, I'm here.

Had a nice meeting at the Hudson, and then a lovelier than lovely dinner at Spumonte with the lovelier than lovely Miss Tammy Minoff and the lovelier than lovely Mr. Grant Geissman.

MattH, as you've read here, I have three of the four Fox releases for next week.  The only one I haven't got is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

I guess I never answered the TOD - I almost hate to admit it here, but I think I saw Titanic in the theater at least 6 or 7 times.  Ok, so I liked the movie. What can I say?

I really enjoy watching movies several times and have done it so often that I really can't list them.  When they hit HBO I'll watch them 5 or 6 times and never get bored...even with bad ones!

Lately I really enjoyed the HBO movie The Girl In the Cafe. I'm not sure what it is about it, but once I start watching it I'm captivated by it, even though I know exactly what is coming next.

Dear reader Laura, what do you MEAN that you have nothing to add to the topic of the day?  We know how many times you've seen all those Gregory Peck movies.

Gregory Peck made movies?
