Can AI generate a hologram of Mildred Natwick?

The ubiquitous every two week computer freeze froze - but did something interesting - it seems to have frozen while I was doing some prep work for tonight's rehearsal, and when I came back to the computer it had somehow restarted itself and I was on my sign-in screen - everything is back up and running. Interesting.

Maybe you just need to walk away for awhile.

A big Oy! for BK.

This isn't the woman who replaced Sharon McNight, is it?

Onion rings have to be perfectly hot.

I agree.

Well, our leading lady is too sick to return to the show - other problems have shown up, she even had her doctor write us a note. So, with three weeks to go we're back to square one and bringing a new person in and having to block them into every scene of act one is going to be MADNESS. What I feel we need to do is schedule a separate rehearsal with the full company and have the assistant director, who has the blocking all written down except for stuff we've done since last Thursday (and we have video of all that) and get her blocked in and she can schedule music rehearsals with our pianist - this is a nightmare and it's such a shame because she was doing so well. I have no idea how ready we'll be to open this thing and it could be so good and so much fun.

Vibes it all works out.

Onion rings have to be perfectly hot.

And crispy!  I think the best is when they are tempura style

That sounds good.  I also like beer batter fries even though I do not like beer.

Kinda reminds me of the time four years ago that our Emcee in Cabaret had a stroke...on the Friday morning of our second of four weekends.

Fortunately, (1) they were able to save him and fix the problem that led to the stroke, and (2) our director, though he'd never played it, knew the part cold and stepped in that evening and for the rest of the run. That was quite the ride.

Like DR Ginny, I am up to my ears in tossing old papers and such. After my friend and neighbor Zen died the family arrived immediately and began sorting through tons of all sorts. They did a great job, but didn’t have time to get through it all. They gave me four boxes of photos, much of it Hollywood memorabilia. I’d been going through all that, but there was also a storage locker in the carport with many more boxes. About a month ago I told the manager it was slow going. She said something like, “I don’t need the locker right away. Take another couple months.” Then last Monday she notified me that she told the gardener to clear it out on Tuesday. What??!! I negotiated another 2 weeks, but I’ve learned she can’t be trusted. She has a lousy memory and fails to write things down. Granted, nothing I’ve come across in the locker has had any real value, but there’s a lot of thrift store donations. I’m frugal and don’t like to see people toss things that someone could use. God knows there are plenty of people struggling these days.

Some good news:
Some of you may recall I have an LA friend who has a Russian friend. RF decided to leave Russia—this was shortly before Ukraine was invaded. Not so easy. Very few countries he could travel to on a Russian passport. He flew to Brazil, where the authorities were very helpful in getting him a visa. He also had to be revaxxed because no one accepts the Sputnik vaccine. He made it to LA and found a job right away. Low wage, but something.

At least you got an additional two weeks.  Maybe you can get her to put things in writing.

After investigating his employment options RF decided to join the US Army!! He’s degreed, has a lot of teaching experience, and speaks five languages. He’s been through boot camp and is now headed for Germany and a new life.

Yes. He’s been teaching English as a second language to Russians.

AND,
My LA friend just won the lottery! No, not the big Powerball, but a smaller California lottery. He won close to $200,000!

And he’s going to Germany, too. A new life for him as well.

Re AI:
Much of what is being called AI is really just ordinary software. AI has great potential, but it must be deployed properly. We all know the errors spellcheck makes. Sloppy AI could be just as laughable. A good friend who is a very accomplished computer scientist and I are on opposing sides of this: he sees the potential, while I acknowledge the potential I don’t have confidence that it will be much better than spellcheck in some instances. I don’t think highly of much of the software being developed today. It often needs more thought into the design and more testing and debugging.
