Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a slog, and now it is time for you to post until the slogging cows come home.

This is going to be a rough day. I must finish as much of "Spanish Panic 2" as possible since I will lose some time to work on it tomorrow.

Yesterday, I got a FB message from Eamon Mulhall, my leading man on my Eileen recording and Ladislaw on Roberta. He's in town and we have a lunch date for tomorrow. It's been ten years since we last saw each other. and I look forward to catching up.

I started to watch a movie on Netflix last night, Let It Snow, but after thirty minutes I realized I had no urge to continue wasting another hour and turned it off. I played with the cats for a bit and went t bed at 8:00.

I slept well until some time around 12:30. I was awake for a couple of hours, dealing with my two bedmates Annabelle and Stella and maybe trying too hard to get back to sleep. Then I had a couple of strange dreams: I was working at Goodspeed, my show had opened, and I had to clear out of my room so the next production could come in. In the second, I was not only seeing a production of the World War I play Journey's End, but I seemed as well to be in World War I.

I woke up super early, laid there for a while, went back to sleep and woke up again at more my normal time, laid there for a bit then fell back to sleep again, and finally woke up way late. Amazingly, the cat laid there beside me the whole time and let me get away with it.

I checked with the Apple store yesterday morning and they said I should almost certainly be getting the call that the computer is ready sometime in the afternoon. Didn’t happen, so I’m hoping for today.

TOD:

My most favorite Italian dish, at the moment, is Spaghetti Carbonara.  The first time i had it was in Naples, Italy.  I had it many times there.  That was in the mid-70s.

I later found it on the menu at a now-closed Berkeley CA restaurant called Venezia.  I took a chance on it, and was richly rewarded.  I went there many times before their doors closed.

I love eggplant parmesan and tortellini a la Bolognese.  I love a wonderful antipasti bar with many different delights upon it.

The best pizzas I ever had were in Italy.  In Vicenza, I discovered the wonders of calzone, filled with prosciutto (ham), funghi (mushrooms) and formaggio (cheese).

In Naples, I once had a meal at the birthplace of the Pizza Margherita.  Sheer heaven.  The pizzeria is still intact and open, and the Margherita is its claim to fame because they invented it for a queen (back when Naples was a kingdom).  Another favorite is the pizza Quattro Stagione (four seasons).  One quarter prosciutto, one quarter funghi, one quarter olive nero (black olives), and one quarter carciofi (artichokes).  My mouth waters just typing the words.

I love Italian food in general, but those are my very favorite dishes.

Dracula was fun, but kind of all over the place as to whether it was to be played seriously or for laughs. And everyone’s accents were distracting. It’s amazing how accents can make or break something, and I don’t think a single one of these people had the skill for it. I think that if a cast isn’t up to it, they should just leave well enough alone and concentrate on speaking clearly, letting their character be understood, and get on with it.

I am buying the whole set of tires because the gentleman at the place said bands are broken in both the front tires and the back tires have too much wear on the edges to be safe.

I don't think the tires are original to the car, but knowing my uncle, I wouldn't be surprised.

Worst news byte I saw on TV yesterday was a comment by Matt Gaetz (Republicon no-goodnik from Florida) who expressed total disguast at Jim Jordan's worst showing in the voting for Speaker of the House.  Gaetz claimed that Jordan was the "most popular" representative in Congress and those not supporting him were undermining the GOP.

It's obvious that Gaetz and his MAGAt cohorts have an over-exaggerated sense of their importance and popularity.

Gaetz brought down Kevin McCarthy (the weak and pitiful) hoping to exalt Jim Jordan (the worst example of traitor in Congress).

Make sure they give you a timeline for rotating those tires so they all wear evenly over the next years.

They portrayed the play faithfully, within their limits. It’s a 60-seat black box, basically, though the stage size ain’t bad, but they needed a little more…something…for a couple of missing special effects. What they did was okay, but a few bits got cheated.

The greatest hilarity, though, was at the top when the curtain wouldn’t open. First, God bless ‘em for even having a curtain, and using it. It was wonderful to walk in and see a closed curtain. I made it clear to them that that was really appreciated, and in turn they seemed grateful for the feedback. But apparently when they closed it the last time before opening the house, it got locked up somehow, resulting in “curtain” being 20 minutes late. Ah, live theeder.
