TOD:

In Italy, I had a lasagna in the restaurant next to the villa we were staying in. The noodles were paper thin and handmade. Slivers of porcini mushrooms filled in between and there was more than a little brown butter to keep it moist. It barely stood an invh tall, despite seven or so layers. It was so spectacular that I didn’t want to share any. I did. But I wasn’t too happy about it.

Good Morning - my apologies for my very E&T-ness this week.  Working, doing a show, etc... used to seem easy.  The boys and I did get to the dog park a few times this week and they had a great time.  DD JP is quite the fetch-er.  I had no idea.  It's fun to watch them run and to interact with other dogs.  They were quite the welcoming committee yesterday in the time we were there.  Such the gentlemen.  Two more performances of Pippin, I really do not like the revised version (I think I've said that) especially the orchestration.  But, that is what we have now.  Pippin ends on Sunday and we go right into Something Rotten for a week.  In the meantime, I'm trying to learn my lines for White Christmas and feeling very disconnected from that production. But hey - they cast me with my conflicts....

I should go see a community theatre production of Seussical today as my BFF is the Sour Kangaroo.  But the morivation isn't there.  Hard to me motivated to go see as show when you're doing a show.  We'll see if I get there.

TOD 2: On that same trip, I encountered porchetta for the first time. Pork belly is wrapped in a roll of pork loin with the skin intact. It’s filled with herbs, especially rosemary, the slow roasted until every is cooked through. Think of turducken, only oinkier.

I was never fond of too much rosemary before, but this is gorgeous.

For a simple inverse version, wrap pork tenderloin in bacon and slowly cook them with some rosemary added to the dutch oven.

That's a lot of driving.

TOD
When I was in my early 20's I briefly dated a guy who would bring me to his folks' house for Sunday dinners.   His mom.made manicotti that was so light and delicate it practically floated above the plate. That, together with her homemade sauce ( which they persisted in calling "gravy") still lives on in my memory more than 40 years later

Yum, but gravy-lol

I'm not sure why you would have had to share.  It was kind of you to do so.

You have been very busy, and of course doggie playtime is essential.

Back from a breakfast burrito at Hugo's, where I ran into my old pal David del Valle, the horror movie expert who does tons of commentaries on DVDs and Blu-rays.

Figured out a few new lines to make the little change we made in one number make sense. And I also figured out how to hopefully make the title song work.

Sitting in the airport lounge, I have composed my review of Kritzer World, and I will post it as soon as I get home.

When you travel with food lovers, it’s practically a given.

Listening to Larry McMurtry: A Life. It’s good, but it’s long.

I’m 60% of the way through and we’ve only gotten to the first few books. And he wrote more than 40.
