MACARONI AND CHEESE

Well, you've read the notes, you've gotten the point of the notes, the notes have gotten the point of you, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home, which will be as soon as they finish their macaroni and cheese.

As Jose pointed out in one of the late posts, one year ago we had our opening night of What If.  It's shocking that a year has already gone by.  So, happy anniversary to us.

Good Morning!

-It's nice to know the night-owl side of me is still alive and kicking.  I was starting to get worried since I was starting to fall asleep before midnight - sometimes even before 10:00pm - the past couple of nights.  Most unseemly, for me at least.

*It also helps that tomorrow is a "late" day - we don't start rehearsal until 1:00.

**However, I did get a preliminary tech schedule for next week.  There will be at least three days where we'll be going from 12:00noon to 3:00am.  Now things may end earlier - and we do get a nice dinner break in there - but we're scheduled to go till 3:00am if needed.

Life in the theatre...  or more like, Life in a theater.

"mendacity" Wasn't that a song by the Sir Douglas Quintet?  Of course that may not be true.

Back from the Seattle production of Princesses.  All in all, Ann and I enjoyed the show.  Some very fun sections, and some that certainly need some work before hitting NYC.  The biggest problems are some horribly clunky bits of exposition in the first two book scenes.  Seems like one of those, "Well, we need some exposition, so let's shoehorn it all in here" occasions.  Also the entire section involving the boyfriend... could be thoroughly excised without losing a thing, IMHO.  A couple songs that fall flat, but most work just fine.  "What A Drag" is absolutely a show-stealer, if basically a "Gotta Get A Gimmick" ripoff.  Ann and I also decided tonight that David Zippel must be a lurker about these parts, as there is a number about Brent Barrett's character called "Sexiest Man Alive."  If they iron out the first couple scenes, I think it will turn out to be a fairly successful show.  Not a blockbuster by any means, but I think it'll fare pretty well.

Thanks for the info, Jed.  Hopefully, I'll get to see the World's Sexiest Man Alive...live, again!  I saw him in Kiss Me, Kate in London in 2001.  Talk about a fabulous show and production! ;D And I do want to see the show.

I'm glad you got the CD, Bruce.  I hope you enjoy the contirbutions of both HHW's (the errant and truant and not-so-errant and truant), and the other artists.

After "a few years" I would imagine "Dragnet" could be fun-- especially for the shots of LA.

Speaking of smelling the macaroni and cheese, I believe I detect the smell of mendacity around here.  Ask Big Daddy.

Media Check:

iPod:  I finally uploaded the first CD I ever bought--Peter Gabriel's SO.  Is there a song more haunting than "Don't Give Up"?  And what is Kate Bush up to these days?

DVD Player:  The Adventures of Mr. Peabody and Sherman--that Jay Ward was one funny, funny guy.

VHS:  Nothing...

Good morning, all!  Sorry about being off-line when you asked your question last night, BK.  I was checking alll the posts quickly before crashing.  DRJoey and I saw RENT last night, and then we had to begin his departure preparations.  I am not surprised that "Getting Away With You" is a faux-song; after Michael John's rant, faux seems to be in, and "Getting Away With You" is quite nice.  I sort of suspected it was really yours from several blind items you've dropped lately.

So, RENT is in amazing shape; the cast replacements are wonderful, and the energy is quite strong.  I could do wth a drop in decibel levels from the sound men, but that will most likely be on a cold day in hell.

So, today I shove DRJoey's butt out the door and wish him a safe trip.  Before he goes, we're going to watch the opening of GUMNAAM and I nered to inventory the apartment for any missing cast albums or sheet music.  I've left CDs for MARIE CHRISTINE and THE WILD PARTY lying about and they're still sitting here!

My goddaughter Charlotte is back from the wilds of London and Oxford, and we're already planning a movie date and a look at her photobook.  I have a beautiful goddaughter and a newly adopted son - if DRJoey will accept the responsibility - so I;m a rather proud parent.

TOD:
DVD:  the Netflix films I've been postponing to finish the work here
   CD:  No idea yet
   VCR:  back to cheap porn

I'm not listening to anything right now since I'm doing work that makes it difficult to wear headphones. Perhaps later in the day I will tune in to AccuRadio or BBC.

Nothing in the VCR or DVD. We may watch something tonight after laundry and dinner but I have to work tomorrow so it depends on how late the night goes.

Perhaps tomorrow after work we will go out for dinner and see a movie. Depends on how long tomorrow's work day goes. Unfortunately, we can't do it on Sunday because Monday I'm having a medical procedure done (nothing serious, just routine old age maintenance) which requires Sunday's diet to consist of nothing but clear liquids. I must also drink a certain solution which will be mixed up and placed in the refrigerator today so I may imbibe on Sunday. That puts a damper on doing things this Sunday. Oh, well.

Back to work.

DR TD - For some reason, your post reminds me of one of my favorite naughty Johnny Carson jokes, when he referred to a possible best supporting actress nomination for the actress who played "Grace in THE SAILOR WHO FELL FROM GRACE."  That jokes made the rounds at my school for days, we thought we were the height of naughtiness for quoting it.  But that was back in the day.

In my CD player:
AVENUE Q - cast album
NEW GUY IN TOWN - Guy Haines
PUT A LITTLE LOVE IN YOUR MOUTH - Amanda Green's CD
LUCKY STIFF
HOME ON THE RANGE - original soundtrack (been listening to the Bonnie Raitt track over and over)

Friday Media Check:

CD/Car:  Liz Callaway/On & Off Broadway
Office:  AOL Radio/Showtune station ("Doin' What Comes Naturally"/Bernadette Peters)
VCR:  Tape from last Saturday's BB6 (already watched)
DVD:  Ready to continue our QAF summer marathon with Season 4 Episode 2 (I am almost embarassed at not only how much I adore this series, but how many times per episode my eyes well up with tears.)

I think that's it.

More later, film at 11.
