My own reaction to Mr. Shaw's remarks, where he says

Quote
...consumers seem to forget that the tip increases as the bill increases...

is that he's not as forthcoming with accurate information here.  As a rule, the more expensive the restaurant, the slower the restaurant expects to turn tables to make a profit.  Diners are given more time to enjoy what the chef has created.  The higher price as reflected on the bill reflects not only the quality of the ingredients, and the manpower it takes to work them into a fine dining experience, but also the higher amount each table is expected to produce, financially, for the owner in order to cover such things as rent, insurance, etc.

Given that the restaurant itself is turning tables at a slower rate, it can also be expected that the waitstaff at the restaurant will be working fewer tables over the course of a night's work.  If they are working fewer tables, then it makes sense that they, too, should be compensated at a higher rate.  Otherwise, how are they to be expected to pay for their own expenses, such as rent, insurance, etc?

Must leave to get my head chopped down...I'm looking quite raggedy right now, and I don't know when I'll get another chance.

I really hope Kaysar can trust her.  I'm not so sure about that, although April does seem to like him, so maybe that will help.

I used to think if I was going to do a reality show, which the chances are slim and none, leading toward none, it would be Big Brother - but after watching the live feeds etc, I think it would be hell!

The one show I really wouldn't mind doing is Amazing Race.  Going around the world with a close friend and doing the challenges they have to do would really be a kick.

I almost forgot...This article over at Playbill OnLine makes me wonder about how well educated their sources are.

I mean, I think it's great that they remember the film The Princess Bride.  But couldn't they acknowledge that the film was based on Goldman's book of the same name?

Nilla the cat made it through his oral surgery this morning, but they had to remove 4, count them 4 teeth! Poor thing. They were all in the back and a couple were broken, so I'm wondering if he bit into something he shouldn't have.

I'm thinking about going to March of the Penguins this weekend, has anyone seen it? I'm in the mood for a feel good movie and penguins are so cute.

DR Cillaliz, i'm not sure if you were here during TAR time.  But the Amazing Race is very popular at HHW. I know it is my favorite reality show of all!

Btw, they have announced the new season will start sept 27th. I am anxious to see the cast list, as it involves families of 4 (with kids 12 or older). Just not sure how many teams will have young kids, vs 20 somethings.

Not so sure i want to see kids cry when they lose.

And heck I know DR MBarnum will hate that! :)

Bernadette Peters is the only actress to play Rose in a Broadway revival of GYPSY and NOT win the Tony Award.

That's all I'm saying.

I'm up, I'm up.  I awoke at three in the morning, and couldn't get back to sleep until four, so I didn't get up until ten, and now I'm behind and must run to ship packages before Miss Tammy Minoff arrives for an anniversary lunch and waltz.

MENDACITY, baby, MENDACITY!

Someone, somewhere, needs to do something about the gas prices.  The government sure sticks its big nose in plenty of other places, and they should start doing so with the gas industry, because it's an outrage, a bloody outrage, when gas prices are over three dollars.

VHS:  Wyatt Earp with Mr Kevin Costner, extended widescreen version.  Pretty good movie.  I like TOMBSTONE better, but this is okay.

CD: Alexander soundtrack by Vangelis.  As DR CP said...it doesn't match the classic scores by Korngold and Rozsa, but it makes a nice CD!  I like the music.

DVD:  NAKED FAME, a porn star wants to make it in the music biz.  I documentary.  Okay.

Oh btw, I meant to mention that this weekend they were giving free samples at the mall.  And I discovered my new favorite thing.

It's for women, and it's a body spray.  It's called Secret sparkle body spray. And it comes in 4 flavors (tropical, peach, rose and vanilla). Now the first 3 are not good.  But the vanilla is to die for.  And this is coming from someone is is very allergic to perfume.

The smell is so natural, so wonderful.  I am so happy to have something i can use like perfume and not get sick.

Btw, does anyone know exactly what body spray is?

I found it sort of odd that Secret would make this. Because truthfully when i saw the samples i thought it must be some type of deoderent (sp?).

But you just spray it on your body (anywhere) and it is addictive.  I"m guessing it's new cause i've seen it in a lot of places.

What a great idea to give free samples, because i would have never known what it was or tried it. And now i love it!

Yes, gasoline is at $2.55 per gallon here.  No explanation, no one has to answer for the increases.  One station does it, and then all others follow suit.  And this is gasoline that was refined from barrels of oil purchased months ago - not at the $67 a barrel that has everyone talking today.

Money - there is a limit to how much the consumer has.  And there are some things people must have - such as gasoline - to get to their jobs and to keep their lives going.  This old argument that I hear on the political shows - we raise the price to get people to use less gasoline.   What a crock!  People don't use a lot of EXTRA gasoline.  They don't buy it and horde it.  They use what they need to get where they NEED to go.  And if they have to pay more for gasoline, they have to buy LESS of something else.

I'm just saying.

And you know who I blame for this mess, don't you?

BB LIVE FEED SPOILERS:

I just read this on the realitytvworld message board:

Looks like Jen will back out of her deal. She's telling April that Kaysar said he'd put up Maggie and someone else and backdoor James. Jen asked if the second person was Ivette and she says Kaysar did not say anything. Jen really does feel her deal with Kaysar was to put up two of her own, but also thinks she can get away with putting up one from each side. April is telling her no way should she put up any of her own. Sounds like April changed her mind.

Although I hesitate to post this lest I chase dear dear beloved DerBrucer again...

with all the "former" oil industry personel in the White House and its immediate vicinity you must be joking if you think that bunch are going to step in to lower gas/oil prices...

they have already stepped in to do something about the prices and they darn well did it...

to us!

here endeth my rant of the day
