I was dreaming about macaroni and chees e last night... I was making it in my dream... cuting up  the cheddar, and swiss and muester into small bits and then making a cream sauce then  slowly adding the cheeses bits to the cream sauce and stirirring it and pouring it over the drain macaroni... and then I woke up desperately craving  M & C

maybe the NOTES were reaching out to me in my sleep.......

Yes, gasoline is at $2.55 per gallon here.  No explanation, no one has to answer for the increases.  One station does it, and then all others follow suit.  And this is gasoline that was refined from barrels of oil purchased months ago - not at the $67 a barrel that has everyone talking today.

Money - there is a limit to how much the consumer has.  And there are some things people must have - such as gasoline - to get to their jobs and to keep their lives going.  This old argument that I hear on the political shows - we raise the price to get people to use less gasoline.   What a crock!  People don't use a lot of EXTRA gasoline.  They don't buy it and horde it.  They use what they need to get where they NEED to go.  And if they have to pay more for gasoline, they have to buy LESS of something else.

I'm just saying.

And you know who I blame for this mess, don't you?

There is an article on Comcast.net right now that has this caption to the picture below:

A Chevron service station on Van Ness Avenue displays gas prices above $3 a gallon in San Francisco, Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005. For the West, the average price of unleaded hit $2.62 a gallon, at least 20 cents higher than any other region in the country. Maintenance problems at U.S. and foreign refineries and the repeated threat of hurricanes along the oil-producing Gulf Coast helped push prices higher. Crude oil reached a record high price of $65 a barrel Wednesday. (AP Photo/Eric Risberg)

DR Cillaliz, i'm not sure if you were here during TAR time.  But the Amazing Race is very popular at HHW. I know it is my favorite reality show of all!

Btw, they have announced the new season will start sept 27th. I am anxious to see the cast list, as it involves families of 4 (with kids 12 or older). Just not sure how many teams will have young kids, vs 20 somethings.

Yes, I was here then. I am a little disppointed that it will be families this next time.  I have nothing against families, but 2 people working together is much easier that 4 and having some of them be kids who will undoubtedly get tired and whiney, yikes!

Oh btw, I meant to mention that this weekend they were giving free samples at the mall.  And I discovered my new favorite thing.

It's for women, and it's a body spray.  It's called Secret sparkle body spray. And it comes in 4 flavors (tropical, peach, rose and vanilla). Now the first 3 are not good.  But the vanilla is to die for.  And this is coming from someone is is very allergic to perfume.

The smell is so natural, so wonderful.  I am so happy to have something i can use like perfume and not get sick.

Btw, does anyone know exactly what body spray is?

I found it sort of odd that Secret would make this. Because truthfully when i saw the samples i thought it must be some type of deoderent (sp?).

But you just spray it on your body (anywhere) and it is addictive.  I"m guessing it's new cause i've seen it in a lot of places.

What a great idea to give free samples, because i would have never known what it was or tried it. And now i love it!

Is it strong enough for a man?

I was going to suggest a BP recording of old gasoline commercial jingles, but all I can think of at the mo' is:

"Won't you fill up,  Jack Benny?
Won't you fill up?"

Speaking of high gas prices (2.35 in the city of Salem as of yesterday) I must get into my motor car and hie myself to the cities of Wilsonville and Tualatin to do some shopping and to check in on Black Kitty and Fat Kitty whose parents are in Nevada.

So you are sneaky, but factually correct, DR JRand.   ;)

Yesterday while perusing the shelves at my local Barnes & Noble, I   found a book (which I purchased but have not yet read) about the 64/65 World's Fair that I attended with my parents  when I was a wee sprig of a twig of a lass

All this gasoline talk reminded me of the Sinclair Oil Exhibit where they had the life sized dinosaurs and a machine where you could make your own plastic dinosaur.  I made a green brontosaurus (back then it was still known by that name)

I almost forgot...This article over at Playbill OnLine makes me wonder about how well educated their sources are.

I mean, I think it's great that they remember the film The Princess Bride.  But couldn't they acknowledge that the film was based on Goldman's book of the same name?

MattH: When I saw Scoundrels a few months ago, it was interrupted by a cellphone while Butz was speaking. He changed one of his lines in a funny way that fit the moment, so the audience cheered, but then he went up on his lines for a moment.

Dan The Man- I was just thinking about Kate Bush yesterday. Her first album is a masterpiece, and she was like, 19 when she recorded it. I like to say she now records under the name Tori Amos because I think Tori copied some of Kate's vocal stylings.

There's an episode of DRAGNET 67 I remember with this guy who tries to become a vigilante superhero because he is lonely. I think this same actor is in a couple of episodes. The guy cracked me up. There is some amusingly bad acting by the guests on that show.
