Happy first night of Hanukkah, y’all. (However you spell it.)

LOL, however you want to spell it.  There are soooo many variations.  I prefer Chanukah :)

And thank you.

3.5 hours to go. It’s been a slog through Barbra’s politics.

She often mentions her fondness for the empire style of dress. Most of the time, she pronounces it “om-peer.” But once it’s “em-pire.”

Interesting.  She did look good in those dresses.  My wedding dress was also an empire style.

I sat down and was looking all around to see what I could see.

One of the ladies behind the counter called: "35!"  I jumped up and yelled "Bingo!"  And  then I realized it was not my number.

She called the number again......no one said anything.  I was looking at her and got all excited.  She called the number again.....no one.

Then she looked right at me and called MY NUMBER.   I jumped up and said "ME!"

Everyone applauded and I was the star of the BMV that day.

Oh, and I got my temp title.....and the real one was mailed to me a week later.

I cannot recall any amusing or interesting DMV incidents in my life.

Generally just a lot of waiting around .

Ditto and Ditto. :-\

TOD

1.  My first license was in Florida. Back in the mid-1960s the driving tests were administered by the highway patrol. I don't remember what it was in my driving that day that inspired the officer to make this remark, but it went something like "I'm approving the issuance of your license, kid. Now don't go making a fool out of me." Or some such. I was secretly very relieved that he approved it AND didn't say anything of the sort to my parents when we went inside.

2.  In 1972, upon moving to L.A., I went to the Hollywood DMV to turn in my Ohio license and become a Californian. After the driving test, which I assumed had been satisfactory, the crusty old officer shocked me by saying he couldn't pass me - reason being, I hadn't looked over my shoulder when turning or making lane changes, something he insisted on in addition to using the mirrors. He was quick to assure me I could come back the next day, retake the driving test, and pass as long as I did that right. Which I did. I got a nice lady tester this time, and there was no problem at all. She had also kind of smiled and nodded knowingly when I first told her what had happened and she saw who the first tester had been.

I'll tell you what, though. To this day, I remember that guy's edict all the time, and I'm better than a lot of people when it comes to swiveling my head and keeping watch on all sides.

My dad loved bolo ties. But I don’t think he would have worn this one.

I don't wear ties (in real life), but that would be pretty cool as a costume piece in a show. :)

Back from the DMV. I arrived at 9:40, had to wait in a short line to get my non-appointment number, twenty minutes later I was called, ten minutes after that I was done. I'm renewed, have my interim license until the real one arrives and that cloud has now cleared.
