Back from the DMV. I arrived at 9:40, had to wait in a short line to get my non-appointment number, twenty minutes later I was called, ten minutes after that I was done. I'm renewed, have my interim license until the real one arrives and that cloud has now cleared.

Not bad at all, and congratulations!  Now you can relax and enjoy your birthday tomorrow.

I didn’t know Bob Dylan wrote Lay, Lady, Lay about Barbra. (After 48 hours, we’re on a first-name basis.)

Yay! Bruce has his new license! One more headache done with.

Good to know there’s a second option if you can’t wait for an appointment.

Thursday afternoon greetings!  It been a weird couple of days in our new home.  I’ll tell you all about it after I do something way more important.

I’m being very lazy today, taking care of lots of little things, but at a slow and leisurely pace.

From DR Rodzinski:

Quote
The problem with Archie Bunker is if you were unfortunate enough to have an Archie Bunker in your real life, they didn’t see him as a satirical character, but a hero.

I guess that explains much about the current hero worship of a certain person.

I had lunch/early afternoon meetings both Monday and Tuesday with a couple of my ladies’ groups.  As much as I love my friends, I was glad yesterday that I didn’t have to get dressed up and be somewhere by noon.  Richard and I were sitting in our living room, still in our jammies, enjoying our first tea and coffee (respectively) of the day when our doorbell rang at 8am.

It was a guy from the HVAC company that has the contract for this whole complex, here to install a part in our furnace which is in the rafters with access through the garage.  Richard went out to move both cars and the guy got right to work.

Fortunately, we did not return to our recliners - I went to the kitchen to unload the dishwasher and Richard went to the bathroom.  I heard an awful crash and, upon investigation, found a huge hole on our ceiling right above Richard’s chair and all kinds of crud all over the chair and floor.  It was a miracle I didn’t also find the HVAC guy.  His foot slipped and punctured the ceiling, but he didn’t fall through.

We’ve known since we moved in that the heat was not working properly, but, no, we’d had no notification of this visit.

So, of course, we contacted our maintenance team and they were right here to clean up and patch the hole with some of the cardboard boxes Richard had flattened after we unpacked them.  They promised they’d get the drywall artist here as soon as possible.  We are very grateful this is THEIR problem to solve.

Oh no, but thank goodness you were both out of the room.  Thank goodness for the second miracle that the guy didn't fall through the ceiling.  Is he ok?
