I remember how Tom loved the stage version of Holiday Inn.

I really enjoy Tom's performance as Scrooge in SCROOGE!

Maybe SCROOGE didn't have an exclamation point in its title, but it should have. :)

How nice that Ron asked for page 10 or 11 yesterday, and sure enough, that happened!

I think there was a mention of Mr. B.I.G. when he passed away.

I shall have to look on MAX for the Leone documentary.

Now and then I watch my DVD of The Colossus of Rhodes....and I always wish we had the leading man originally cast John Derek instead of who we get Rory Calhoun.

Loved watching Maestro last night.

Like every bio-pic ever made, it has its flaws or falls short in one respect or another. A ten-hour miniseries would have been nice, but it’s quite the ride for its two hours, and I shall look forward to repeat viewings when I’ll be able to feel free to concentrate on details.

So, after yesterday’s li’l discussion about Nutcracker recordings, and in my unhappiness with myself for not having nabbed a copy of DR Elmore’s recommended Irving/NYC Ballet one when the subject came up before, I briefly checked eBay listings then went to Discogs to see what’s what… and I took the plunge on something I hadn’t acquired in over 20 years… the Kapp reel-to-reel release.

There were two copies available, one of which I deemed not at all worth the asking price plus shipping, and one in seemingly great shape for $10 plus $14 shipping from Canada. That’s about what any of the available stereo LPs would have come to, so no contest, because $10 is, these days, a steal for a reel-to-reel tape.

There’s no telling when it’ll get here, of course, but I will have a full repor when it does.

DR ChasSmith, I have a memory that the last time I looked for the Kapp recording online that the reel to reel may be missing one of the Act Two dances; do you have the Dover full score for Nutcracker? Also, at the time of the recording, Robert Irving was the NYC Ballet's music director and, either before or after, he was the MD for the Royal Ballet. He knows his stuff!

Yikes! Yes, I have the Dover full score and I’ll listen through the entire piece with it and report back. Thank you for the heads up!

Also finished Surely You Can’t Be Serious. Highly recommended if you love the movie. The section on Ethel Merman’s cameo is fun.

Whatever food poisoning issue I have is, I'm afraid, the last straw. My stomach, like the last time this happened a couple of weeks ago, feels like constant cramping, like to idiots are in there pinching things. So, I was up a good deal of the night. Pepcid's not helping at all. I guess I needed one more thing to make this week a complete disaster. I may try for more sleep later.

At least the other stuff seems to be calming down - breathing through both nostrils now and the cough isn't quite as horrific.

Friday morning greetings!  We have just returned from watching Charlotte perform in her daycare Christmas program.  She was the best, of course.
