I picked up a bunch of films from the library today, including Wichita, a western with Joel McCrea, Lloyd Bridges and Peter Graves.

I also picked up Airplane! with Lloyd Bridges and Peter Graves.

Interesting double feature.

Years later, when I was a restaurant critic, I entered a competition called A Mother’s Day Revenge. You had to write about the worst thing your mother ever served you. I won.

Grand prize was a catered multi-course dinner for four with wine.

I think your trauma was worth the win.

It wasn’t a fair tradeoff. I still have a lifetime of pain.

It sounds like you hardly ate any.  I would rather had your lime gelatin dish than brains mixed with canned dog food shoved down my mouth ;D

If those are the only two choices, I'd choose the lime gelatin dish, too.

;D

This is kind of interesting.  LaChanze is bothered that the original cast of Broadway's "The Color Purple" (for which she won the Best Actress Tony) hasn't been getting mentioned in publicity for the movie of the musical.

LaChanze's actual tweet on the subject is at that link.

Her tweet seems to suggest that she feels she should have gotten some financial piece of one of the songs.

She thinks she’s a lyricist because the show’s writers used her ideas on the song.

Lots of actors would talk about how Sondheim would ask them questions about their character and they would see their ideas in his lyrics. But none of them ever thought they had written their own songs.

I tried to get revenge on my parents. I took them out for dim sum and placed a chicken’s foot on each of their plates. I told them that they couldn’t leave the table until they had cleaned their plates. They refused.

My dad, my sister (even before she went vegetarian) and I wouldn't have touched it either, but my mom would've. :P

However, Bellows' office said her decision would not be enforced until the courts weigh in, "given the compressed timeframe, the novel constitutional questions involved, the importance of this case, and impending ballot preparation deadlines."

Interesting.  You'd think she would've had lawyers get her points back when it happened. ::)

Did your mom actually try to serve the dish more than once?

No, but she wasn’t going to let the leftovers go to waste. She ate them.

Watching a not-good movie called Unrest, about anarchy at a Swiss watch-making factory.

Between your Dad and the Aunt Eunice story and the lime gelatin trauma from your Mom, a play or indie film could emerge

Maybe call it "The Leftovers."
