I really hardly know it -- I mean, well enough to actually consider doing it myself. So I have much to learn in the coming months. And much planning to do, for a venue in which I can - at best - fit 6 or 7 musicians, me being one of them.

The original off-Broadway orchestration was (we think) 4 violas, 2 celli, bass, piano-celesta, guitar, harp, 2 trumpets, horn, trombone, 4 reeds, and percussion (1 player).

My director and I will be making every effort to get to Encores! - which for me, has to be during the second week.

Hey, I should have two eyes to see out of by then!  :)

Well, God knows what the revised book will be like. They've cut one song because of the book revisions. This PC approach to comedy drives me mad.

Oy!  Sorry to hear.

Not to mention, I have a great director, but he's all too often dazzled by revised orchestrations, and he's already asked me to consider tweaking "Normandy" à la the Sarah Jessica Parker-cast arrangement.

OMG, I have news -- news that must be told especially to DR Elmore!

You're simply not going to believe it.

This all happened rather suddenly right at the end of December... I never planned for it myself, it was presented to me at the last minute when the local groups were about to announce their 2024 seasons...

Don't laugh. You might cry, but try not to laugh. In November/December 2024, at one of our local 100+ seat theeders, I will be music-directing

(wait for it)

Once Upon a Mattress.

Congrats, ChasSmith!

I finally made the gingerbread house, DR Jane!

I don't think it will win any awards.

Also, there's a big crack in the roof. Almost as if a tree had hit it.

Holy f'n......

I just got an automated call from my pharmacy saying my prescription (Prolensa, an eye drop) is ready for pickup. The price will be $137.00. Say wha'? The other eye drop I use for this (the antibiotic) was only $12.00! I think this one's an anti-inflammatory. How could it be so much?

I called and got a person, who confirmed that and added that it originally came in at $128 - and the INSURANCE raised it to $137. How do you like them apples? With friends like that...

Anyway, I was first given sample packs for it at the doctor's, and I just talked to them and they are more than willing to give me another batch when I'm ready to do the second eye. Isn't that nice? They really are a great office in all respects.

Here's another one for DR Elmore:

I think this is fairly new and not all patients get it, but I did, and it alleviates having to use even more eye drops after the surgery. I believe it's a steroid in addition to the antibiotic and anti-inflammatory. So, my eye drops routine doesn't change, from the three days prior to surgery to many days after. I just have this little yellow-tipped thingy just inside my eyelid that releases the medication.

Sorry about the tree-fall, Chas. But it’s great to have a contractor you can trust. This is the first house I’ve had that has no trees within striking distance.

Memorial service was nice. Jim and Shirley had been married for 70 years. She died last September. He died in December.

Our guy just came back, went up and singlehandedly threw the debris off the roof, and sealed up two (maybe three) places where the snow could get through. So we're good for this coming storm. Which is exactly what the insurance company wanted to hear as well.
