DR Stuart - I saw WOMAN OF THE YEAR three times in Boston, and to my 21 year old mind, it was the ultimate in wit and sophistication. I then didn't pay attention to the New York reviews since I was away at law school, and played the LP (which I remember had particularly skimpy packaging for those days) constantly. I particularly loved the mentioning in the title song of the ladies' name she was supposedly singing to, but have been told over and over by songwriters that those names made the lively song sloppy and unfocused, and that the score is lesser Kander and Ebb that I've been beaten down a little about it. But when I was 21, the score felt magical.
