Speaking of shows, last night's rehearsal of She Loves Me was fantastic.  We learned all the music for Scene 1 and blocked it as well.  This is new for me, usually we learn the music, then we block/choreograph, but this seemed to work very well.  I'm excited about the show, already it looks great!

Wonderful to hear it went so well, Matthew!

George & Rodzinski, did you see this?

My county is under both a Winter Weather Advisory AND a Wind Chill Advisory for tonight and tomorrow.

So Friday will be a stay at home day.

I am all for it as I am tired of adjusting to the time changes, especially in the spring.  DR Rodzinski, with your children going to school across the boarder I suppose it could be confusing for you.

Will the debate consider the effect on late-night HHW posting?

It made it to 71 today. Tomorrow night it’s back in the 20s. Boomerang, baby.

As DR Ron Pulliam pointed out on FB, Peter Schickele (PDQ Bach) has died at 88.

Oh, no! :( I have several of his recordings and scores.

Yesterday I mentioned it was 42. That’s how bouncy our weather has been. That was a high after lows around 17. Today it’s supposed to get up to 70.

I’m ushering for Les Ballets Trokadero de Monte Carlo. I hear they’re sensational. It’s an all-male troupe performing all the parts in classical ballet.

They've come to Olympia at least a couple of times.  They were fantastic, and fantastically funny!

I want one of those!

So sorry to hear of Peter Schickele's death. He was not only a brilliant musicologist and hysterically funny gentleman, he was very kind and generous and a brilliant composer and arranger. I used to see him often at Associated vMusic, which was run by my friend Judy Haring. He gave us tickets to the premiere of PDQ Bach's Oedipus Tex at Carnegie Hall. Dana Kruger as Madame Bo-Peep. the village seeress, sang to Oedipus:
You murdered your father and married your mother?
You rascal! You're my kind of guy.

Several years ago, I called Peter to tell hm how much I loved his opera The Abduction of Figaro, and I asked him about some of his recordings that never made it to CD, like the incidental musical for The Knight of the Burning Pestle. Not long after that, I received several homemade CDs in the mail. He will be missed

It's always nice to hear stories of famous(ish) people who are kind. :)

My cousin Carol and I are going to lunch today.....we are going to try the new Xaxby's......which just opened here last month.

She said that she is familiar with them from Florida.....but they are new to Indiana.

Enjoy, Jrand!

Keith just called me to see an unusual sight, a Canada goose walking on water.  Yup, part of the pond out back is frozen.  After walking on water we watched sink and slip a bit where it was only partially frozen.

Meals distributed. Potatoes all gone. Cases of oranges gone. Yogurt gone. We gave out 130 six-packs of that.

That's great, John.

Back from my appointment, where I learned I’ve lost 11 pounds since seeing her last in September.  Must be the “moving diet.”
Congrats on the weight loss.

Ditto!

Cool!  I'll be able to watch them later.

Here is the only complete PDQ Bach opera, The Abduction of Figaro, one of the funniest operas ever written.

I've seen parts of this, but I haven't watched it all the way through.  I think it's time that I did.

I'd heard about it, but hadn't heard more than that it was being proposed.
