Well, you've read the notes, the notes were final and fixed, and now it is time for you to post until the final and fixed cows come home.

Regarding talk show hosts:  The classics that BK mentioned, of course.  Among those, there was something I found especially pleasant about Merv Griffin as an interviewer.

Also, Dinah Shore, Donny and Marie, and Vicki Lawrence when they had their talk shows.

I'm a bit crabby this morning. Indiana Univewrsity has not resolved the issue of sending me the rehearsal recording from Tuesday, which really pisses me off, and the continuous rain has resulted in my canceling my lunch date.

If someone finds out, could they ask them why Cereal Day and Flapjack Day coincide?

Maybe one of the 30 guests visiting the board knows someone who might know?

So, while I'm crabby, let me tell you about seeing that original production of The Human Comedy, which I saw at in early 1984 at the Public Theater. I had a friend, no longer with us, in the cast. It had some good performers - Rex Smith, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Joe Kolinski - and a particularly inept on from Gordon Connell. It remains one of the worst things I've ever seen. The band was too large for the space, and I swear those damned trumpets never stopped shrieking at the top of their range. I remember a particularly awful number between Gordon Connell and Stephen Geoffreys. I cannot remember who choreographed, but the direction was by Wilford Leach, whose Pirates of Penzance was a huge success. I am not a fan of the maudlin writings of Saroyan, and the book did little to tone down that element. It was a noisy, inept rendition of paddlin' maudlin home.

I just read the Wikipedia entry on The Human Comedy and I am amazed at the misinformation: it was not staged like a semi-oratorio; I do not remember projections although they might have been there; what I remember is that the set had various small areas set as different locales. What I do remember is leaving at the end and looking at the posterboards of critics' raves and thinking, WTF? Did they see the mess I just saw?

That current Speaker of the House and Trump-tooter Mike Johnson was on CBS Mornings today. He is such a piece of shit!

Thursday morning greetings!  Sorry to be so scarce lately.  I had ladies’ meetings in Middletown Monday and Tuesday and a visit from an out-of-town friend yesterday.

I wonder why the "W" in the HOLLYWOOD sign is in a different font. Must be a replacement.

Also, one of the gaps in the top of the letter is a narrower shape than the gap on the other side.

Today I'm back to rehearsal, this time something a little different. Today I'm only observing this high school rehearsal of Carrie prior to actually joining them for their tech week and performances next week. It'll be interesting for me because it's a school I haven't worked with, I have no idea of the level of their productions, the student gal on Keyboard 1 is supposedly very good so I look forward to hearing her play it, but she doesn't have any experience piano-conducting so the band director who doesn't play any keyboard at all will conduct... (it goes on, but I shan't bore you).

We are, once again, absolutely deluged with rain here. We're supposed to get a break this afternoon and tomorrow, but then it returns to wash out the weekend.

Being as how it's still only the first week of March, however, we can at least be grateful that it's not a foot of sn*w being dumped on our asses.
