I heard about Ayn Rand in college, read Atlas Shrugged on the recommendation of friends, and loved it. I later read The Fountainhead, Anthem, and We the Living. So obviously I was into her stuff back then, and through my twenties. I actually liked certain events and settings in Atlas enough to read it again a few years later.
In L.A. it just happened that a few friends were into Nathaniel Branden's writings, and one took a series of classes he used to give now and then. This was in the 70s, and his office was at the west end of the Sunset Strip, either in the Hamburger Hamlet building or another right there, I forget now. I eventually fell off the wagon and didn't pursue any of that much further, but I was later very interested in how that filming of Atlas transpired. But believe it or not, I've never gotten around to watching it. I'd still totally enjoy doing that, just to see what they came up with and how they did it. I don't expect greatness, but I can't resist checking it out. I'd also like to see the Helen Mirren thing, just because.
