He actually took it because I’m terrible at selfies

Clicking on this takes me to my own photos.

The Darling Daughter has left - we had a fine visit, then she had her birthday dinner at the Smokehouse. She had the fish and chips and declared them the best she's ever had, the tartar sauce as the best she's ever had, and the coleslaw as the best she's ever had. We got a half order of the garlic cheese bread and I allowed myself one piece.

Otherwise, I had a cup of clam chowder (a bit thin this time), a shrimp cocktail (amazing), and a Caesar salad with chicken, so filling I had to take half home with me.

Both wonderful events I was thrilled to attend.

I ended up hanging out with BD Wong , curiously, after Skips concert, taking pictures of him with all the people who came up to greet him.

Just before he left he said, oh! We should take a picture so we did

That sounds like such fun!

Funny, I don’t think my mother gave it a second thought.

She didn't move all the way to California ;D

True, but she did pick up and move to Arizona when our son was an infant.  I was so upset and fearful that he’d grow up not knowing her well.  We worked hard at sustaining that relationship and it turned out OK.

Did you enjoy visiting her in Arizona?  I think it would be a great place to visit in the winter.

Though moving there wouldn't help us as Bryan likes to go to the mountains in January.  It is good for us he has friends here they ski with, if there is snow.

I had 10 1/2 hours of sleep last night.  They were much needed after yesterday's exhausting pace of spring cleaning.  Miles to go, too.

I cleaned out kitchen cabinets (a couple) that had many things long expired.  Stuff my mom bought. Some from before I retired.  One item expired in 2004.  It was in the back of a cabinet, and I'm sure my mom forgot it was there.

It's not the throwing away that bothers me.  It's the hauling things out to the trash that exhaust me.

When we've done that, having cleared the extra space feels good long after the exhaustion of throwing the stuff out.

I keep telling myself that, but the job seems a bit endless.  I have shelves of empty Mason jars to  box up and put/give away, as well as at least two shelves loaded with coffee mugs, etc.  Mom didn't like to throw stuff away.  It's not that she minded, but that once she put something on a shelf, she didn't feel any need to take it down and get rid of it if she didn't need the space for something else.

In truth, the hardest part of this cleaning is getting rid of "mom stuff"...nothing she had any personal attachment to, but stuff she had partially used and then wrapped up and put back on the shelf.

Sigh.

This August 30th, my mom will have been deceased six years.  I don't think she's going to miss any of that stuff.
