Tonight's concert with the English Concert conducted by Harry Bicket with countertenor Iestyn Davies was excellent. They played music by Handel, Vivaldi, and Corelli.

Originally the concert was going to feature mezzo-soprano Emily d'Angelo and include music by Ferrandini, a composer I had not heard of before. She withdrew due to illness a month ago, about a week after I bought my ticket.

I don't think of myself as a countertenor fan but I think that's because of some mediocre experiences the first few times I heard any. Singing standards have gotten a lot better and I always seem to enjoy them nowadays.

The concert was in Wigmore Hall which is one of my happy places. It's probably my all-time favorite small recital hall (e.g. small enough to not be able to fit more than 20 or so musicians onstage).

Loved that photo survey, DR ChasSmith. Count me among the others who have never seen or watched Grease in any form.

I saw Davies in Mark Rylance's production of Farinelli and the King. A little countertenor goes a long, long way with me.

I got six pages scored today; I might have possibly written eight if the cats hadn't decided to help me.

I saw that in his bio. I love Rylance so I would have liked to see that. But I know what you mean about countertenors. Make sure you don't go to El Niņo at the Met or you'll hear three of them!

This day cannot be over quick enough. Ordered a smash burger because it was 25% off. I've had one from this place before and it was good. Well, since it's today, this thing was absolutely vile and I probably shouldn't have eaten it. It didn't taste rancid, but something was really off and I'm kind of nauseous from it - hopefully, it won't turn into anything worse.

A friend posted this today:

I bless my anger. It tells me I am alive.
I bless my sadness. It reminds me that I am real.

I bless my confusion. Out of it comes clarity.
I bless my tears. They heal me.
