Topic of the Day:  Beware! The Blob really scared me when I was a kid.  I remember my sister and I had some friends over to watch it (or maybe it was just a sleepover and it was on), and I was freaked out!  I ran into my bedroom and I don't think I came back out until the morning.

;D

Keith wanted me to watch scary movies and decided I should begin with The Blob.  I still remember watching it at his parents house (they weren't home) sitting on the couch with him holding me through most of the movie to keep me there.

I agreed it was a good film, and alas had to watch other scary films with him though there were many, like Exorcist, that I refused to watch for years.  I wish I had never agreed to see Willard which gave me terrible nightmares.

Isn't every day pet day?

It is, if you have a pet.  We do enjoy a few of the dogs that live near us and we see on a regular basis.

In the mornings I sometimes think of Peter O’Toole in THE LION IN WINTER, breaking the layer of ice in the wash basin to splash cold water on his face, growling “It’s going to be a beast of a day!”

TOD: I was quite disturbed by the ABC-TV showing of the feature film “The Legend of Hell House.” My siblings used a blanket to block me from seeing the scary reveal in the last 10 minutes, which somehow made it even scarier.

Yes, sometimes your imagination, along with what you are hearing, is worse.

Long before The Blob, my junior high did a movie series at lunch, about 15 minutes a day for a movie.  The ending of The Fly gave me nightmares for years.

I did like the remake.

Between The Fly & The Blob, my mother took me to a drive-in movie to something that sounded good to me, The Birds.  Ha, scared me half to death but did not give me nightmares.

I have since watched The Birds many times with Keith and enjoy it very much.

The poster from WILLARD was also very scary.

They were often plastered by the dozens on walls, and I recall that being especially creepy in Far Rockaway for some reason.

I think my favorite horror film tha got under my skin in the 1970s was the brilliant Don't Look Now with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie. The last film that got under my skin and gave me nightmares for a month was The Blair witch Project.

DR John G., I read that as I think I was in too much manure yesterday.

But I think that would be more BK’s feeling.

It wasn’t a manure-filled day for me. Thankfully

I remember being scared by What’s the Matter with Helen? Shelley Winters, Debbie Reynolds, Dennis Weaver and the first tango routine I remember seeing.
