This morning's listening will consist of the soundtrack to Call Me Madam, which I put together from the DVD (and a decent job I did on it if I must say so myself), then the score to Reds, Warren Beatty's overlooked film (Chariots of Fire, are you kidding???), then Julie and Carol at Lincoln Center (a transfer of record to CD) and finally another transfer of record to CD, 'S Wonderful, 'S Marvelous, 'S Gershwin, the 1972 television special w/Jack Lemmon, Leslie Uggams, Fred Astaire, Larry Kert, Linda Bennett, Robert Guillaume, Alan Johnson, Peter Nero and the Elliot Lawrence Orchestra, conceived and produced by pre-Annnie, Mr. Martin Charnin

Good Morning!

Thanks again for the continued birthday wishes.  A wonderful way to start the day.

DR elmore - Thanks for the suggestion.  I'll go ahead and give them a call later.  I was already thinking that I'd secure one of the tables in the corner, and just tip the waiter in advance for all the single drink orders he may have to deal with.

Otherwise, I'll see you at 2:00.

OH!  And I didn't realize that Kate Baldwin is playing Helen.  HOO and RAY!

DR Cillaliz....I had been referring to the rather Drew Barrymore-ish body glitter that Julie sometimes deigns to wear.  Last night, she did not glitter.  But was wearing a pretty faboo dress, I thought!

As for today's Media Check...  Just the CD player:

Damn Yankees OCR - I realized that I did not have the CD in my collection, and since I'll be doing the show soon...
Monty Python's Spamalot OCR
Renee Fleming - "Haunted Heart" - Her crossover album.  'Nuff said.

Time to fold the laundry... That I did two nights ago...

:-\

I can't have any unfolded laundry on my birthday.  Most unseemly.

And let's hope that Hurricane Katrina "decides" to take it easy on the Panhandle in the coming days.

OH!

I finally read this week's Diva Talk column over at Playbill.com.  There's a nice interview with Kelli O'Hara.  She has some nice things to say about her experience with The Light in the Piazza, as well as some very frank things to say about Jekyll & Hyde and Dracula.  "Frank" - get it?

:P

Who is soliciting this book?  If it is someplace like Amazon or CD Unverse the credit card won't be charged until the item is shipped.  If it is Paypal, then beware... they charge the card as soon as the order is received.  This is one reason I hate Paypal and the only time I will use it is to buy something from BK since I know he won't $%@# me around with false promises of shipping dates.

I, for one, simple LOVE today's notes!  I'd read this tale, from your very own fingertips, on the Scarlet Street boards, plus, I've been following this story for quite awhile.

Anyway, yesterday I watched many Norma Shearer movies on Turner Classic Movies, then dvd-wise I watched most of BRIGADOON and one half of SCHINDLER'S LIST.

...And I also noticed over on Playbill.com that David Engel is joining the New York company of I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change.  Does this mean he'll be "wintering" here in New York City?

*However, from what I hear, the New York company could use a nice boost of energy and talent on the stage right now.  I guess the honeymoon is over.  ;)

Oh...  I just received the most wonderful birthday greeting from Steve.  He sent me a video e-mail of him singing and playing Happy Birthday.  :)

Nothing like having a good cry on your birthday.  And, yes, it was a good one.  -I have such a good ex. ;)

I said it once and I'll say it again - FELIZ CUMPLEANOS A JOSE Y JRAND!!

I really don't feel like being at work today. Big surprise, huh?

DR Jose: I will do my best to make it to your natal celebration tonight. I made plans with my roommate and our mutual friend, Michael, but I haven't heard anything from either of them since we made said plans, so until they confirm, I think I'm free.

I communicated with the Greek last night via Instant Message. I wish I hadn't. Greeks can be so damned charming...it's really frustrating. And then Greeks can turn around and tell you that they randomly made out with someone at a bar the other night because they were Greco-drunk. Why would a Greek tell you that? To make you jealous? To make you think they're Greco-trashy? I don't need to be told these things!

Greeks are stupid. And yet I love them. Damn my ever-lovin' Anglo heart!

Good morning!

Beautiful day here with the high only supposed to be getting to 82. It was 62 last night, and cool this morning when I went up to get the paper.

Wonderful new avatar, DR Tom, and Eric Lindros looks like a keeper, too, DR JRand.
