Happy Birthday indeed to DR JoseSPiano! I consider myself so lucky to "know" someone so musical and with so many inroads to the Great White Way and beyond.

DR Tomovoz: I meant to comment on your new avatar. Very nice!! I like it very much.

DR JRand55: I like yours, too, though he doesn't look like your typical field hockey player... :-\

I'm going to be in and out all day today. Have some quick shopping to do in a bit. Then, tonight, one of the guys I went to NYC with is coming to town to have dinner, so I'll be gone a good portion of the evening.

Tonight is the summer season finale of MONK which I'm looking forward to (will have to DVR it). Thankfully, MONK returns with more episodes in January.

BE VERY CAREFUL Matt H!! You could slip and fall hopping in the shower.  It is always safer to stand  and use a non slip bath mat

Big Brother live feed spoilers!

It looks like Ape and Maggot have approached J & H (janelle/howie) to backdoor james.  They want them NOT to pick james for the veto.  They seem like they are genunie (april and maggie). However I wonder what they (J&H) will do.  They were sort of working with james. But if they get james to play veto, and he wins and takes janelle off, then they would probably vote howie out. So we shall see. But it is not over for J&H.

And the word of the day is: LILLIPUTIAN!
Shouldn't that be lilliputian?

Nice to see WEL here!

WEL: He solicited the preorders himself - through his magazine.  He's self-publishing the book.  He's never had it listed at amazon or any other place.

I'm up, I'm up.  finally had a great night's sleep.

Media check:

CD(car):  Cincinnati Pops' Music Man, a concert version with, among others, the Indiana University Singing Hoosiers as the chorus.

DVD:  DS Rob and I are continuing to watch season one of Deadwood

Anything I watch or listen to has to be TURNED UP REAL LOUD because I have this GRANT PROPOSAL IN MY EARS!  Boy, will I be glad when we ship this baby out of here Monday.

No one else would like to comment on the tale of The Curious Case of the Never-ending book.  We've only had Pogue and Shayne so far, and I'm interested in others' opinions as to what course of action should be taken.

Media Report:

DVD Player: more Good Eats episodes.  Specifically, the Fruit Fest disc, featuring Apple Family Values, Strawberry Sky, and Top Banana.

CD Player: For some strange reason, I was listening to Leonard Bernstein's Mass earlier.  Some of it is quite good.  Some of it is bombastic.  I still end up returning to it every once in a while.

Construction continues on the McGulag being built next door.  There has been hammering, and there has been sawing.  The hammering sounds like hammering.  The sawing, with a power saw, sounds more like a constipated elephant.

Der Brucer is off to spend the day with the grandlads.  It's open house at their school, and he's taking the opportunity to meet with their teachers.  I think he's trying to establish with the teachers that there is someone sane in the family, and not to judge the lads by their parents.

Meanwhile, I don't start work today until after three, and won't be getting off until close to midnight.  (That's close to nine at night, for you left-coasters.)  After which, der B will want me to fix him dinner!  Yipes!

Re: the never-ending book.  That sounds totally crazy!  I guess the lesson is to never pre-order unless it is from someone we know (like BK) or something reliable that you can cancel (like amazon).

I really have never heard of such a thing.  Can you email the guy or where you sent the money and demand your money back?

For big brother fans, RACHEL is actually on Housecalls and she is there!

They still cannot talk to her about certain things.  But I'm finding it odd, because i think rachel can tell that they like her (even though they cannot say so directly, cause it could influence the game).
