The blu-ray news about Friendly Persuasion made my day. I love that film! I last saw it on VHS, but I do remember seeing it in Middletown Ohio's Paramount Theater. What I most remember is Richard Eyer's trouble with the goose. Was its name Samantha?

I would love to see it again.

I will spend most of today dealing with the last 80 bars of the overture. Josh has one other piece for me, so I want to finish up this one ASAP.

To the best of my knowledge, I've never seen Friendly Persuasion.

I thank thee all for the heads up.

Happy Sunday!  The new episode of the Broadway Radio Show is up and it's my chat with author Kevin Winkler all about his new book On Bette Midler: An Opinionated Guide...as we look at the Divine Miss M's career on stage, screen and recordings.  Lots of fun conversation and music!

Yesterday I started mowing (I almost typed mooing) for the first time this season. I'd let the dandelions grow for the bees ("No Mow May" being kind of a thing), but they're gone now and I couldn't stand the sight of the yard any longer. It's slow going because I really need to replace my old tired lawnmower, so there's more to finish up today.

Then I've got to rescue some firewood that fell and got wet for a while, throw out what isn't usable, and stack it better.

That will be my hard labor for the day.

I've been out of touch with what's happening at Goodspeed and would like to have seen this musical about John Kenley (of The Kenley Players in Ohio), but it looks like I'm going to miss it this time around.

My ancestors on my mother's side were practicing Quakers.  They lived in North Carolina.

During the French & Indian war, they of course refused conscription to fight.....so they took a group of them to Pennsylvania and put them to work building a fort and other non-battle related activities.

George Washington commended them on their hard work.....but they were kept away from home for the duration of the war.

Afterwards when the war was over and they were home - some new men took over the church and it was decided that every family had to give 10% of their money and furniture to the church.

They day they came to my GGGG Grandfather's house and took his dining room table and chairs - he packed everything else up and brought his family to what is now Indiana....where he built a new Quaker Church at Sugar Grove and they all lived happily ever after.

It would have been a good thing if you'd have mentioned this, though.  Some of us have been seeing page 7 as a goal, with no clue that you don't care for page 7!
