Favorite vacation had to be my safari in Botswana. I got to see the most amazing wildlife in their native habitat. Lions mating, zebras turning their backsides to us, lilac breasted plovers flying above us, cheetahs laughing, monkeys making mischief. Elephants, giraffes, ibexes, antelopes, wild dogs, rhinos, so much more.

What a great adventure.

The time when I went to "The Last Starfighter" at Second Story Repertory in Redmond, WA (Seattle area) and we had a Pacific NW HHW gathering with George, TCB, and  Jane and Keith was one of my all-time favorite trips.

Likewise meeting up with BK and several others in L.A. (when BK and I saw "Los Otros" at the Mark Taper Forum) was a real favorite.

I'm very glad we were able to make the drive up to Redmond and share in the experience, plus the show was very good.

Las Vegas vacations were mixed in that the place is so exciting at night, but somewhat ordinary during the days.

We plan to go to Vegas this year, not for the excitment of the city anymore but to visit with Keith's family.

It might not be too much of a stretch to say that my Navy career was a 23 1/2 year vacation, often interrupted by work, but it took me to places I never thought I would see.

You were lucky you had many wonderful experiences during your career.

And a wonderful trip to Hong Kong and China in the late 70s when China was just opening up to tourism.

Cool.

This morning I had to make a stop at the bank, then on to Petco where they were having a big doggie vaccination event and a small adoption fair going on, so there were some nice pooches to see. Then on to Trader Joe's for a few things to take to my friend's par-tay tomorrow.

Now I'm home and we're little by little cleaning and straightening up the deck so we can enjoy it after a long season of pretty much ignoring it. It'll be presentable in a couple of hours.

It's also really past time to strip and re-stain the deck, and I'll try to make that happen between now and, say, late July.

Gas at BJ's is holding at $3.29. (Is that what I said the other day? I believe so.)

Gas is down to $2.89 here. Don't know the Costco price

Keith purchased gas at Fred Meyer today.  I have no clue what the price was as I was inside the market buying a few things.

Speaking of orchestration, I watched the ballet again last week and loved it, but I'm going to do it again on The Big TV and through The Big Speakers. Probably one evening next week.

I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep. Up at noon and trying to catch up on messages and stuff. Food should be here momentarily. I think someone's in the yard trimming trees - annoying.
