I’ve been busy all day with cleaning and laundry and such and haven’t gotten to the tossing. Sigh.

My cleaning guy, Brian, came by last week and the two of us started packing some of the books. My inner librarian wanted books sorted and packed by author. We did quite a bit, then I pooped out and Brian did some cleaning for me. He’s a tremendous help. I wish he was available more often.

DR Jeanne, the whole affordability thing is just disheartening. It's everywhere now, but L.A. is hideous.

As I think back, as much as I really liked a couple of the places I lived in, I ALWAYS wished I could be at just the next level - in size or quality or location or what have you. And that was in a whole different world! Plus, I was a renter right up till the last place when a good friend offered to help me get into an actual condo, for which of course she could cash out when we sold it. And that was wonderful. But you would cry if I told you what I paid at each place. Hell, *I'll* cry.

Yes, we live in a different universe now price wise.

I do wonder where the buyers come from for all the multimillion-dollar homes.

For me, it’s largely an exercise in how much I can get rid of. Do any of us need all the stuff we keep? I was so impressed with how organized DR Ginny as with their downsizing. A good example!

Thanks, DR Jane. We are here until Monday morning, then it is a short, easy drive to Valparaiso, IN.

Short drives are nice.  Valparaiso looks like a cute town.

Thank you, Singdaw and Freddie. I have been very busy. My plate was overly full before
I decided to buy a condo, and now it’s rather insane. A steady diet of condo listings, as well as a few viewings. It’s a matter of trade-offs. The complex I like so much doesn’t offer units in the size I prefer—they’re either a bit small or too big. Sigh. There are units I like in other neighborhoods, but they’re not walkable. I really want walkable.

I understand about wanting walkable.

Yesterday I looked at two units (such a sterile and unwelcoming term),

We do not like living in something called a unit.

Yesterday I looked at two units (such a sterile and unwelcoming term), one a 1-bedroom, very nice but a bit small. The other was my friend Rebecca’s 2-bedroom. The agent told me it hadn’t been cleaned yet. I said it didn’t matter. But what got to me were the bags and bags and bags of clothes and other items waiting to be donated or tossed. So sad! It’s always sad after a death to see someone’s life reduced to a Goodwill pick-up, but in this case she was a friend as well. I didn’t expect it to hit me.

I wondered if you would be looking at her place.  I think she would like it if you were to live there.  Sending hugs.

Well, I haven’t seen one like this, but I’ve seen some cockamamie remodels. Honestly!

I believe it and can easily imagine things I have seen.

It would be wonderful if he could help you out more, still I am glad he shows up occasionally.

He's credited along with Kaitlin Hopkins and Larry Grossman for revised book (revised from "Snoopy" to "World According To...").

Look what just happened in Amazon Kindle:

Benjamin Kritzer Kindle Edition
by Bruce Kimmel (Author)  Format: Kindle Edition
#1 New Release in Biographical Literary Fiction

Not bad for a book that originally came out in 2002.

I am in charge of the coffee hour foodstuffs tomorrow. Also, we are having a potluck. So I've been busy in my kitchen today.

So far Kerry's mixer has made meringue kisses and biscotti. Those both need to dry out overnight. Tomorrow the mixer shall whirl again.

TOD: Well, I saw the recently rewritten Peter Pan. The songs were the same, but the book was rewritten.
