Thursday afternoon greetings!  Today I completed my 4 weeks of radiation therapy and rang the bell to celebrate.

Now I need a nap.

My cousin is coming home from the hospital today after all of her rehab, so that is good news.

Good news, Jrand!

I'll be glad when this Election Day goes by. It's my least favorite holiday.

Although, I am glad we have Election Day.

I just don't like the leadup to it.

TOD: I collect CDs and wine, but for listening and drinking vs investing. I had run out of space for CD storage, but then I discovered Space Saving Sleeves and now I have room to buy CDs again: https://spacesavingsleeves.com/

What a hardship it is to have to buy more CDs.

What kinds of wine do you like?

We like pretty much anything good! As long as it's not the overly alcoholic styles that came into vogue with Robert Parker. We're surrounded by fine wine here in northern California and have enjoyed visits to many European wine regions over the years.

I agree. My friends and I shared a nice Barolo last night with dinner. Haven’t had one in a while.

Mayor Eric Adams has dominated the news today. From what I hear of the indictment, whe NY Democrats have our own answer to Rethuglican Donald Trump.

Two key backers of the San Antonio Philharmonic have demanded the return of their $180,000 contributions, which they say were loans.
The orchestra's CEO says they will contest the claim in court.

Oh, my!

I'm a collector, certainly, but it would be more accurate to say I dabble in collections.

I daresay (oh yes, I dare to say; sometimes I even dare to daresay) none would be worthy of being called a real collection by truly serious hardcore collectors, but I nevertheless have a few individual items that are without doubt rare and desirable.

Certainly in my few thousand records there are some nice treasures, but it's a selection tailored to my own personal tastes and not any sort of "completion" in any segment. This is probably like what DR Rodzinski is saying about his, with probably three times what I have. CDs round out some areas of this, of course.

Blu-rays, DVDs, and a few remaining laserdiscs are a collection, but the same disclaimer applies.

Other smaller collections are certain books; musical scores; a handful of film posters; a few types of maps; some vintage cameras and souvenir collectors plates and such, representing mid-century road travel; and no doubt a few other things that don't come to mind at the moment.

Total Ditto. :) I also have some autographed books, records and photos, and a decorative napkin signed by the original soprano of The Manhattan Transfer, Laurel Massé, by way of former DR Jose!

Reminds me of when they contacted Rose Marie about joining the cast of the Dick Van Dyke Show, and her response was, “What’s a Dick Van Dyke?”

Coming up Sunday at the Bedford Playhouse:  The great Harold Lloyd in the great Safety Last (1923) with live piano accompaniment.
Tomorrow (Friday) night:  I'm seeing The Spitfire Grill, at long last.

Enjoy both!  I'd also love to see them. :)

Those look really cool, especially if they fit all the paperwork without having to fold it in half.  I hate that.

Of course, you then have to do something with all the (non-recyclable) CD cases. :P
