Well, you've read the notes, the notes paid the bills, and now it is time for you to post until the bill paying cows come home.

I went to bed at 9:00 and woke at 11:00 in need of a bathroom break. I got back to bed, checked out the cats - Annabelle sleeping on her princess pillow next to me, Thatch next to me, and Stella sleeping on the floor by my clothes closet - and turned off the light. As I cuddled next to Thatch, I heard loud bird chirping. It was coming from the space between the filing cabinets and the large front window. What I was hearing was one of the cats' toys, a little bird that chirps when you squeeze it or step on it. About a week before, I had been dealing with fallen books and crap that Annabelle had caused to fall off the bookcases in her climbing.

As soon as the chirping began, Annabelle and Thatch sat up, then leaped off the bed to investigate. I was a little spooked: had someone crawled in the window without my knowledge? I decided it was a ghost, so I sat up and turned on the light. Thatch was back in the cat tree, Annabelle returned to bed, Stella crawled into bed with me, and I turned off the light. Around 1:00, I was wakened by the thud of something falling onto the floor.

My first reaction was Thatch had fallen out of the cat tree, so I turned on the light to see if he were okay. He was still asleep in the cat tree and I still do not know what woke me. I slept fine after that until 4:00 or so, when Thatch jumpled back into bed with me.

In some parts, tonight is "Devil's Night," or the "trick" part of "trick or treat."

There was a "Halloween Blizzard" here back in 1991, with 2 feet of snow.

I distinctly heard a voice coming from a few feet away next to me. Where the wireless weather thing is that the kids gave us.

I am very paranoid about things, and I refuse to have one of those Alexa things in my house listening to me. So it couldn't have been that.

I don't remember now what the voice said, but I heard it say "Laura" and then another phrase after that.

I looked all around. The weather thing didn't have a microphone or a speaker, so we couldn't figure out what it was. Next to that is our outdoor security camera monitor, which also has to microphone or speaker. Same with the printer.

Next to the table, on the floor, was a basket of toys. One of them was a Buzz Lightyear toy that talks when you push a button. I went through every one of his phrases ... nothing like what I heard.

It turned out to be a firetruck that one of the neighbor kids turned on when he was here. One of the phrases was "Ladder goes up and down."
