Do you now celebrate Canada's Thanksgiving as well as our's?

We were going to keep them home but it’s a “hot lunch” day and they didn’t want to miss.

Well, goddam it all to hell! My Thanksgiving dinner just arrived, courtesy of Joshie, which was very kind and generous of him. Everything is nicely packed in jars and containers, only there's one problem: a packing list "Thanksgiving reheat instructions."

I have to cook the fucking meal!

I'm ready to throw it all out.

After school we’ll go to Vancouver for a nice meal and stay at a hotel.

I like your celebration.  Will you be keeping them out of school or is it closed tomorrow?

I have, apparently, had sufficient sleep since I've been awake since about 4:30 a.m.

I woke up at 4:00.  You should sleep well tonight after your long, fun day.

My DH's favorite food group was "Sugar," which finally caught up with him a couple of years ago. He gave up all carbs except fruit. Fruit is ok because it is a complex carb.

So no soda, chocolate, sugar in coffee or tea, pasta, potatoes, or bread.  But he ate LOTS of fruit.

His numbers came down nicely.

I've been soooo bad I fear my next test.

There's a young chef I watch on Youtube. He posted some easier than pie desserts for Thanksgiving. He said his MIL always brings a Pumpkin Crunch for dinner.

He's amazed and says the science of it doesn't work. And he loves it.

It's just a dump cake. Something most moms probably know. Or at least moms who bake.

I have never made or had a dump cake

I used to bake meringue  pumpkin pies complely from scratch using Hubbard squash.  The meringue was in the filling, not on top.

Well, Jane, that describes my kitchen any time the powered sugar container is open.

LOL.  This was the worst ever.

You should see the mess I make with those royal icing cookies.

I bet.

 It may be very simple.

If it's fully cooked turkey, you could still eat it room temperature.

Speaking of Wicked, my friend Canadian playwright Brad Fraser (Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love) just gave Wicked a rave review on Facebook. I guess Winnie Holzman has put back into the screenplay much of the book's political plotliones, so that makes me very happy.

I called the restaurant to ask "when my friend ordered this, did he know I would have to cook the damned meal?" The manager said it was all excplained in the email, which I think means, No, we don't tell you it will not be a hot meal delivery.

As I said, I'm ready top take the whole shebang to the basement, toss it in the garbage, and have a can of soup.

I'd bet the meat is fully cooked, and may even be tasty cold.  Why not look at what the reheating instructions are, and they may be easy like put in the microwave for five minutes or something like that.  Don't feel bad on the holiday.

The dessert and side are probably really good without any heating, no matter what.

I made the cranberry sauce with Pinot Noir last night. A Bon Appetit recipe my stepmother sent me where you cook the cranberries in 2/3 a bottle of Pinot Noir. Best cranberry sauce ever IMHO.
