We had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, roasted carrots, corn, mac and cheese, buttered rolls, salad, and pumpkin dump cake with whipped cream.

A cold front is coming in, and I havee to usher outdoors tomorrow. It’s the holiday river parade.

At 6:03 p.m. it is DARK here.....and there are some neighborly homes with Christmas lights blazing.

It is most fun to look at.

Doggie Precious used to enjoy looking at the Christmas light from the back door and the front door......

Nice.  We don't see many decorated houses where we live.  The entrance to our complex has lights on the trees which is pretty.

And Aunt Sassy made her concoctions that only she eats.

BK and I met at the Sherman Oaks El Torito. It was pretty busy. Lots of food, both traditional dishes and Mexican. Lots. The food was better than last year when we ate at the location in Santa Monica, which has now closed. I like having a buffet and virtually everyone can find something they like here.

I used to like El Torito's.  I'm glad the buffet was good.

That dump cake was delicious. All the flavors of pumpkin pie, but much easier when you have a busy day.

It would be a great thing to throw together in the morning for a church potluck.

I had salad, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn casserole, broccoli, cheese enchiladas, Spanish rice, pinto beans, and fresh fruit. I’m stuffed! No dessert except the fruit. It was good.

Yum.

Grandson helped make the whipped cream. He had a great time running the mixer. We put the whipped cream in a piping bag, and he had a swell time piping it onto the dump cake.

I am so glad your dessert worked out, DR Jane.

Thank you.  I was relieved it looked nice. I knew it would still taste good :)

I didn't know how many people were going to be there.  There were only five of us, the other couple and his niece.  I found out the details of why the late invite.  The plan was to go to his sister's house only she was sick.

Has anyone here ever made a yule log?

No.  I gather the process is similar to my pumpkin roll only more work.

The cake roll is the first part. Then it gets more intricate.

I actually prefer the taste of the pumpkin cake to a sponge cake in the yule log.
