This show is constructed surprisingly well with the breaking of the fourth wall and audience participation, which keeps every performance refreshing.

Of course I dread the inevitable day or evening with a poor house consisting of dullards. We shall see.

I googled the Brooklyn Academy of Music Gershwein Celebration; it was 1987. It was a gala night, for which I was one of Michael Tilson Thomas' assistants, followed by a run of wonderful concert performances of Of Thee I Sing and Let Then Eat Cake. I only worked on the gala, which included the following artists: Chita Rivera, Julia Migenes, Madeline Kahn, Maureen McGovern, Rosemary Clooney, Greg Burge, Larry Kert, Bob Dylan, Christopher walken, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Leonard Bernstein, and Johnny Green. I'm sure I've forgotten someone important.

It was a great experience, and besides being a bit of a zoo, it was a wonderful concert.

Nice. Is that the gala that led to the recordings?

Yes. I believe they recorded the week after the concerts.
